These are full-time internship engagements for individuals eager to contribute meaningfully to urban reform and practice.

Intern – Urban Policy | Mobility and Spatial Intelligence

Role Overview
The team works on advancing priority planning and design reform agendas across scales, with a strong focus on strengthening how Indian cities plan, design, implement, and maintain their urban roads and public space systems.
The intern will support the team in developing structured pathways for policy adoption, institutionalization, and scaling of urban planning and design reforms.
This includes conducting research, analyzing institutional and governance arrangements, and contributing to guidance documents, reform recommendations, and implementation frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on planning, design, infrastructure systems, including collating national and global best practicesAnalyse institutional structures, mandates, and coordination processes to understand how policies are adopted, implemented, and scale.Support the development of guidance documents, reform recommendations, and implementation pathways.Prepare clear, well-structured briefs, notes, and presentations for internal use and policy engagement.Assist with synthesising insights from stakeholder interactions, field observations, and secondary sources, and help maintain internal documentation and trackers

Intern – Urban Policy | Land and Planning
Open Positions: 1 | Duration: 2–6 months

Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on urban planning laws, regulations, policies, case studies, and best practices, including comparative analysis of local and international planning frameworks.Draft policy briefs and reports that synthesise research findings and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations for engagement with government and community stakeholders.Collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative urban data to inform planning and policy recommendationsAssist in preparing policy engagement and outreach materials, including presentations, infographics, fact sheets, and other communication tools.Contribute to visualising data and planning ideas, and translate complex urban concepts into clear, accessible written and visual content for diverse audiences
Eligibility
Postgraduate degree (completed or in progress) in public policy, urban planning, development studies, law, economics, or related fieldsExceptional candidates with a relevant bachelor's degree and/or demonstrable experience and interest in these domains will also be considered

Role Overview
We are inviting applications for a full-time, two-to-four-month internship with the Urban Policy team, based in our Bengaluru office.
The team advances priority planning and design reform agendas across scales, with a strong focus on how Indian cities plan, design, implement, and maintain their urban roads and public space systems.
The intern will support a range of ongoing work, including condensing larger guidelines into concise, well-designed booklets, alongside research, synthesis, and communication tasks across the team's reform agendas.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on planning, design, and infrastructure systems,
including collating national and global best practicesSupport the development of briefs, notes, presentations, and guidance documents for internal use and policy engagementAssist with synthesising insights from stakeholder interactions, field observations, and secondary sources, and help maintain internal documentation and trackersTranslate complex planning and design content into accessible, well-structured visual and written format.
Condense larger guidelines into a shorter, reader-friendly booklet, distilling a long, technical document and laying it out in an easily readable format using Adobe Suite.

A Bachelor's degree in Planning (B.Plan) is mandatory, with a Master's in Urban Design, Urban Planning, or a related field considered an added advantage.

Role Overview
We are inviting applications for a full-time, six-month to one-year internship with the Urban Policy team, based in our Bengaluru office.
The team advances priority planning and design reform agendas across scales, with a strong focus on how Indian cities plan, design, implement, and maintain their urban roads and public space systems.
The intern will support the Geospatial Intelligence project – using spatial data and analysis to strengthen how urban planning and design reforms are developed, adopted, institutionalized, and scaled.
This includes research, spatial analysis, and contributions to guidance documents, reform recommendations, and implementation frameworks.

Intern – Urban Planning and Design | Water Resilience

Role Overview
The team works on advancing integrated planning and design approaches for resilient urban systems across scales, with a focus on urban water resilience, nature-based solutions, blue-green infrastructure, and public realm planning.
The intern will support the team in developing spatial strategies, urban design frameworks, and implementation approaches through research, spatial analysis, design exploration, and policy review.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on urban planning, urban design, urban water systems, nature-based solutions, and related national and global best practices.
Undertake spatial analysis using GIS to understand urban systems, including land use, drainage networks, ecological assets, mobility, and public spaces.

Intern – Urban Planning and Design | Odisha Urban Design Hub
Open Positions: 1 | Duration: 4-6 months

Role Overview
Jana Urban Space (through OUDH) serves as a technical assistance and advisory partner to the Housing & Urban Development Department.
It supports preparation of neighbourhood plans, Development Control Regulations, DPRs, and model project documents.
It assists in identification of projects, preparation of RFPs, and provides technical review and implementation support, including project management and site monitoring.
The team also supports sectoral planning initiatives and contributes to strengthening planning systems, processes, and institutional capacity, including support to the Directorate of Town Planning.
This internship offers hands-on exposure to urban design and planning projects, supporting the team with site documentation, field surveys, drawing preparation, and report writing under guidance.
Key Responsibilities

Eligibility

Role Overview
We are a two-member team currently working on projects across Karnataka and Shillong.
As part of our ongoing and upcoming work, we are focusing on the integrated design of roads and public spaces—such as markets, bus stands, and parks—and studying their impact on urban development and mobility patterns.
During your internship, you will be involved in research, site analysis, documentation, and design exploration related to these projects.
The work will help you understand how infrastructure and public spaces together influence city growth, movement systems, and user experience.
