Wesley College is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Food Technologies Teacher to join our thriving Technologies Department and play a pivotal role in an exciting new chapter for the College.
As we prepare to open our brand-new classroom kitchen in our new Centenary building, we are looking for an inspirational educator who is passionate about food science, nutrition, sustainability and contemporary food issues.
This is a unique opportunity to establish and grow a energetic Food Technologies program while working alongside an outstanding Design and Technology team.
Teaching students across Years 9-12 (with opportunities to work with Years 7-8), you will design and deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences that connect theory with real-world application.
You will have the opportunity to:
Shape and develop Wesley's Food Technologies curriculum in a brand-new purpose-built facility.
Inspire students through practical, innovative and industry-relevant learning experiences.
Foster students' understanding of food science, nutrition, food safety, sustainability and emerging food trends.
Collaborate with a passionate and supportive Technologies team.
Work closely with our Food Technician to deliver exceptional learning outcomes.
Prepare students for assessments, examinations and practical applications of learning.
Contribute to the broader life of the College through co-curricular programs, events and community engagement initiatives.
What We're Looking ForYou are a passionate educator who can bring Food Technologies to life and create meaningful learning experiences that engage and challenge students.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Food Technology, Home Economics or a related field.
Current Teacher Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA), or eligibility to obtain registration.
Experience teaching Food Technology and/or Home Economics in a secondary school setting.
The ability to teach Food Technologies across Years 9-12 (experience with Years 7-8 highly regarded).
Strong knowledge of food science, nutrition, food safety and contemporary food industry issues.
A proven ability to deliver engaging, differentiated and inclusive learning programs.
Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills.
A commitment to student wellbeing and pastoral care.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
A passion for continuous improvement and professional growth.
The initiative to seek meaningful learning opportunities and industry connections that enhance student outcomes.
We would be especially interested in candidates who have:
Experience teaching General Food Science and Technology.
Experience delivering Food Technology programs to Years 7-10.
Experience establishing or supporting student-led enterprises such as school cafés, food businesses or hospitality ventures.
