Broadacre Machinery Operator — run the paddock like it's yours
Yuna, WA (Geraldton & Midwest) · Full time · Permanent · House on farm
It's 2pm, you're 40 km from the workshop, and something on the seeder doesn't sound right.
What happens next is up to you.
Fix it, or make the call to stop and ring — either is fine.
Sitting there waiting for someone to tell you what to do is the only wrong answer.
That's the job in one paragraph.
If it sounds positive, keep reading.
Who we are
Creasy Farming Co is a family cropping business at Yuna, 100 km north-east of Geraldton.
10,500 arable hectares, — wheat, canola, barley and lupins.
Three of us run it permanent: the owner-manager, an assistant manager who runs the workshop, and one full-time operator.
You'd be the fourth.
Seasonal staff join us for seeding and harvest.
We run good gear and we look after it.
The Gear
· Case IH Quadtrac 550, 24 m C2 bar, Morris **** air cart
· Two Case IH **** harvesters with FD2 fronts
· Case IH Patriot ****,**** self-propelled sprayer
· John Deere 9R 490 with Agrispreader, running variable rate prescriptions
· Kenworth T909 road train, C- Train setup
· 24 m Swarmbot sprayer with WeedIt,
· TTQ deep ripper, telehandlers, loaders
You'll be trusted with this from your first season, and how the job gets done will mostly be your call.
The year
Seeding, spraying, spreading, harvest, ripping and cartage — plus servicing and maintaining what you drive.
Summer is ripping, carting, building roads, and getting gear ready for the next round.
Most days you're on your own in the paddock.
Nobody's watching over your shoulder.
If a job could be done better,
we want to hear about it — good ideas don't care whose seat they come from.
What you'll need
· Real broadacre experience across seeding, harvest and spraying
· Confident with GPS guidance, auto-steer and controlled traffic
· Mechanically capable — someone who services their own gear, handles in-paddock repairs, and knows then a noise matters.
· The judgement to work unsupervised
· Current HR driver's licence
Worth a lot to us: MC licence — relief road train driving is part of the job.
HR minimum and we'll fund the upgrade to MC.
ChemCert, telehandler ticket, welding and fabrication all valued.
We pay for tickets and training.
Pay and conditions
$48 an hour.
With seeding and harvest overtime, our operators take home roughly $130,000–$145,000 a year, plus superannuation.
A four bedroom, two bathroom house on farm, and a farm vehicle for work use.
Hours over 12 a day are always optional.
The overtime is there through seeding and harvest if you want it, but nobody is made to take it and we roster to manage fatigue.
Straight about Yuna
Yuna is a small farming community about an hour and ten minutes inland from Geraldton.
The primary school is small.
The high school bus runs to Geraldton — out around 7am, back about 4:30.
What there is: space, a decent house, gear worth driving, and a job where what you do shows up in how the year goes.
On a farm this size with a team this small, there's nowhere to hide — which is exactly the point.
If your partner is after work, we have seasonal positions at seeding and harvest.
Happy to talk.
Applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or hold appropriate work rights.
