The recent Geraldton Health Campus Acute Psychiatric Unit, opening in mid‐****, offers a meaningful opportunity for an Aboriginal Health Practitioner to support culturally safe and recovery‐focused care for consumers and their families.
You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team to deliver health assessments, screening and monitoring within your scope of practice.
You will build solid links with local health services, support safe medication and vaccination administration and help patients make informed care decisions.
A key focus is providing cultural safety, guiding patients and families through the health system and promoting a holistic, culturally centred model of care.
You will use your knowledge of the unique health needs of Aboriginal people to support better outcomes for the Midwest community.
Position Profile: The Aboriginal Health Practitioner will be responsible for working with health care teams to provide culturally safe, holistic person-centred clinical care, health education and promotion for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people within Western Australia.




As specified in the summary of duties, these also include working within their scope of practice and considerate of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia professional capabilities.

Suitability Criteria:
Be of Aboriginal descent and registered with the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Health Practice Board of Australia.
Strong communication and people skills, including the ability to build positive relationships and work effectively with others.
Experience working with Aboriginal people to support the delivery of primary health care services in hospital, community or home settings.
Ability to build effective relationships with health care providers and work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
