Core Defence Australia is seeking experienced Defence Systems Engineers to support current and upcoming contract opportunities across Canberra and Melbourne.
We are looking to connect with engineers who have experience delivering complex Defence capability, acquisition, sustainment, integration and technical assurance outcomes.
Depending on the engagement, responsibilities may include:
conducting systems engineering planning and lifecycle activities
developing, reviewing and managing system requirements
reviewing contractor engineering deliverables and technical data
supporting engineering assurance, certification, compliance and acceptance
contributing to verification, validation and Test and Evaluation activities
managing technical risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies
supporting configuration management and engineering change processes
applying Defence engineering policies, standards and governance frameworks
participating in technical reviews and engineering governance forums
working with project, commercial, logistics, technical and operational stakeholders
providing professional engineering advice to Defence and industry teams.
Essential requirements
Applicants must have:
an active Australian Government security clearance of at least NV1, with NV2 highly regarded
demonstrated Defence or Defence-industry systems engineering experience
a recognised bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
experience working in complex capability or engineering delivery environments




solid written and verbal communication skills
the ability to work independently and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams
an existing location in Canberra or Melbourne.
CDA is not currently considering candidates who would need to relocate for an engagement.

Experience in any of the following areas will be highly regarded:
CASG or Defence Delivery Group programs
Defence acquisition or sustainment
One Defence Capability System
systems engineering assurance
requirements management
technical certification and acceptance
configuration and engineering change management
Test and Evaluation
ASDEFCON environments
Engineering Management Systems
C4, communications, ICT or mission systems
Model-Based Systems Engineering
Engineers Australia membership
CPEng or INCOSE certification.
Most Defence engagements require regular attendance at Commonwealth or client premises.
Hybrid arrangements may be available depending on the specific role and client approval.
Some opportunities may also be subject to Australian citizenship, ITAR or export-control requirements, Defence separation periods and clearance uplift requirements.
