Systems Administrator
Skyrail is a locally owned family business providing a unique rainforest attraction that has built on its success to become a world leader in sustainable tourism and delivery of exceptional visitor experiences.
We are seeking a full or part time, suitably qualified and/or experienced Systems Administrator.
This is a hands-on position responsible for providing all-round support and resolution to the users of Skyrail's information technology and communications assets across Skyrail and other entities within the Chapman Group including ICT contractors and vendors.
Why this job is different
Most systems administration roles in a business this size mean you are the "computer person" who resets passwords.
This one is not that.
You will have a hands-on environment to run: a Microsoft 365 tenant, a virtualisation cluster, Windows and Linux servers, firewalls and VPN links across four sites, cloud workloads, an ERP and payroll stack, reservations and ticketing, retail point-of-sale, CCTV and VoIP — plus the websites that sell a very large share of our tickets.
Two of our sites are rainforest stations you can only get to by gondola.
You will also have autonomy.
There is no change advisory board, no six-week queue, no account manager between you and the people you are helping.
You identify a problem, assess the best solution, implement it effectively, and document it thoroughly.
If you're looking to move beyond a managed services setting focused on resolving tickets and instead take ownership of end-to-end projects where you can see the tangible impact of your work, this role offers that opportunity.
What you'll actually be doing

Under guidance and support of the ITC Manager you will:
Run day-to-day support for staff across our Smithfield terminal, Red Peak and Barron Falls stations, and Kuranda terminal.
Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and on-premises Active Directory.
Look after the virtualisation cluster, Windows and Linux servers, and the business applications on top of them.
Manage firewalls, site-to-site VPN, switching and wireless across all sites, plus carrier links and VoIP.
Own backups and test the restores.
Manage our security: patching, MFA, access reviews, incident response, and running our staff phishing-awareness program.
Keep the platform under our public websites and booking channels available, patched and secure, alongside Marketing and their agency.
Script away the repetitive work — and document it.
Deliver projects end to end — scoping, completing and seeing them implemented.
What we need from you
Minimum two years' hands-on systems administration — multi-site business or MSP, either is fine.
Real depth in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID and Windows Server / Active Directory.
Solid networking: VLANs, routing, firewall policy, VPN, wireless, and the discipline to troubleshoot from the cable up.
Virtualisation experience (VMware or Hyper-V) and backup and restore ownership.
The ability to work autonomously, prioritise sensibly, and stay calm when something breaks.
A current driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
What's in it for you!?
Flexible Monday to Friday roster - part time or full time on offer
Competitive remuneration package
Free on-site car parking
Free travel on Skyrail for you and your immediate family and discounted tickets for your extended family and friends
