FRV are currently recruiting Mechanical Technician (Diesel Mechanics) to work in our Thornbury workshop which is located north / west city fringe of Melbourne.
Great role where every day is different and our teams are skilled and diverse.
You will work with Apprentices through to seasoned Mechanical Technician experts.
Our workshop is clean, well equipped with all the tools you'll need.
We offer 9 day fortnight, OT plus allowances as well as excellent job security.

As a
Mechanical Technician (Diesel Mechanic – C8)
, you will be part of a busy, multi‐skilled team responsible for maintaining the operational readiness of FRV's fire appliances and associated equipment.
FRV is able to support your professional development and skills growth that can enhance your work credentials and your increase classification band.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing scheduled maintenance and repairs on fire appliances and ancillary equipment
Providing emergency field service repairs on the fireground, supporting operational Firefighter crews
Maintaining the highest Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards at all times, both in the workshop and in the field
Contributing to projects and initiatives in collaboration with other trades and departments across the organisation
Experience with fire appliances or emergency vehicles is advantageous but not essential.
Functional Accountabilities including but not limited to:
□ Undertake work as directed by Team Leader




□ Perform vehicle assessments including road testing.
□ Carry out emergency field service repairs on fire-ground to support Operations

What you will need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have attained:
· Diesel Mechanic Trade Qualification
(Compulsory)
Compulsory: A Trade qualification is mandatory.
A trade qualification is issued at the completion of a trade Apprenticeship.
(Please note a Certificate qualification does not meet FRV's qualification requirements).
Only Trade qualified applications will be considered.




Current Victorian HR Driver's licence (Compulsory)
Substantial experience as a Diesel Mechanic
A strong commitment to safety, teamwork and quality workmanship
