Assistant Head of Department (Mathematics)

Are you a passionate educational leader with a commitment to curriculum excellence?
As the Assistant Head of Department (Programs & Assessments), you will play a pivotal role in shaping teaching and learning across Years 7-12 through the strategic development of programs, resources and assessments.
Partnering closely with teaching staff, you will ensure curriculum delivery is engaging, evidence-based and aligned with state and national standards, enabling every student to achieve their potential.
Commencing in Term ******, this leadership position attracts a Position of Responsibility Allowance and includes a teaching load of four classes.
The appointment is offered as a three-year tenure, with ongoing employment at the conclusion of the tenure period and the opportunity for further tenure by mutual agreement.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead curriculum, program and assessment development across Years 7-12
, including overseeing course programs, supporting and reviewing assessment design, ensuring alignment with the Australian Curriculum and WACE requirements, and monitoring consistent implementation across all classes.
Coordinate assessment and academic planning processes
, including the scheduling of assessment dates, management of assessment periods for Years *****, liaison with the Head of Department regarding calendar requirements and changes, and communication of activities that may impact the Mathematics Department.
Foster qualified excellence and collaboration within the department
, including leading professional learning, supporting teachers' instructional practices, building positive working relationships,
contributing to curriculum innovation and co-curricular programs, promoting effective use of ICT, and undertaking other duties as required.
What you'll bring:
Recognised teaching qualifications and compliance
, including relevant tertiary qualifications, along with current WA Teacher Registration, a valid Working with Children Check, and a Federal Police Clearance.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and contribute effectively to a team environment.
Highly developed organisation and professionalism
, demonstrated through effective goal setting, prioritisation, independent work habits, multitasking capability and a commitment to ongoing professional learning.
