About the Role:
The Business Development Manager leads the strategic grower acquisition effort, targeting high-value prospective accounts using commercial acumen to guide conversations around sugar pricing, market trends and cashflow options, positioning Wilmar as the preferred partner.
Working closely with the Grower Marketing team, you'll play an important role in driving growth and expanding market presence in the Burdekin Region.
You'll spend time on the road connecting with growers, identifying new opportunities, and bringing new business on board, while also strengthening and retaining existing partnerships.

Role Responsibilities:
Lead the business development and grower acquisition across the Burdekin Region.
Attract recent growers and manage key grower accounts by delivering exceptional service, building trust, and providing information on sugar pricing, cashflow options, and related opportunities.
Be a key outward facing representative, engaging with large growers and industry influencers.
Develop robust relationships with high-value clients through targeted and strategic engagement.
Build and strengthen industry connections by working closely with growers, advisors, stakeholders, and representing the company at events and forums.
Contribute to business success by supporting planning and budgeting activities, managing grower-related risks, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
About you:
We are looking for someone who brings:
Essential:
Demonstrates advanced business development management and commercial relationship management capabilities.
Proven experience in a similar role, with an ability to win new business.
Demonstrates strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills across a range of stakeholders.
Is proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and experienced in using CRM systems (preferably Salesforce).
Possesses a valid Queensland "C" Class Driver's Licence.
Desirable:
Has completed formal sales training (internal or external) and applies structured sales methodologies.
Holds relevant tertiary qualifications in agriculture, business, finance, or economics (or equivalent practical experience).
Brings experience within the sugar industry or a related agricultural sector.
Has a strong understanding of commodity markets, including futures, hedging, and pricing strategies.
