We are seeking a Principal Technical Lead to shape, design, and guide the delivery of modern technology solutions across our core platforms, integration layers, and business systems.
This hands-on leadership role will drive scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned to Bravas' enterprise technology direction.
As specialists in premium funding, technology is central to how we serve our brands.
We're looking for an experienced engineer and technical leader who can operate across architecture, engineering execution, integration design, and third-party vendor systems translating business needs into practical, high-quality technical outcomes.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, you will provide hands-on technical leadership across multiple systems and vendors within the IT and Transformation team.
You will lead solution design, reinforce strong engineering practices, and guide delivery across build, testing, deployment and support — ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned to our enterprise technology direction.
You will also coach and develop a small, high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Architecture & Solution Design
• Lead technical solution design across core platforms, integration services, APIs, data flows and business systems.
• Translate business requirements into practical architecture options, patterns, and implementation plans.
• Make clear technical recommendations, documenting trade-offs and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
• Guide the design of integration patterns across CRM, broker systems,
data/AI platforms and other external connections and workflows.
Engineering Leadership & Delivery Execution
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to engineers, delivery partners, and vendors across design, build, testing, deployment and support.
• Establish and reinforce engineering practices including code quality, version control, CI/CD, automated testing, documentation, and release readiness.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools appropriately to accelerate development, improve code quality, support refactoring, and assist with documentation and testing.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across applications, integrations, data flows, and third-party business systems.
Stakeholder Partnership, Governance & Continuous Improvement
• Work closely with stakeholders across Operations, Sales, Finance, Data and IT teams to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Support vendor and partner delivery by setting clear technical expectations, reviewing outputs, and ensuring integration quality and ongoing maintainability.
• Identify opportunities to simplify the technology landscape, improve reuse, reduce manual effort, and strengthen system resilience.
Team Leadership & Development
• Provide coaching, technical guidance and development to team members to achieve organisational goals.
• Collaborate with and empower cross-functional stakeholders to continuously improve and innovate.
What We're Looking For
• 7+ years' experience in software engineering, systems integration, solution architecture, or a comparable technical delivery role, including experience leading others technically.
• Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns across applications, APIs, integration layers, data services, cloud platforms, and operational business systems.
• Hands-on engineering background with practical experience in code review, integration design, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
• Experience with integration platforms, middleware, API gateways (e.g. Microsoft API Management), event-driven patterns, or iPaaS tooling.
• Experience working with the Microsoft stack, Azure, Microsoft 365 Copilot Studio, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted coding tools responsibly to support delivery, code quality, testing, documentation, and productivity.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical options, risks, dependencies, and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
• HubSpot CRM implementation, configuration, integration, or operational workflow experience.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated environments.
• Experience working with vendors, delivery partners, and managed service providers in a multi-system environment.
• Familiarity with business systems such as HubSpot, NetSuite, Red Planet Odyssey, or similar CRM, finance, origination, or operational platforms.
