Sport and Recreation Officer
Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Sport and Recreation Officer to contribute to Council's success.
Permanent Full Time, 9 day fortnight

About the Role
The purpose of this position is to work within the Community Partnerships team to support the development of healthy, safe and inclusive communities by increasing opportunities for participation in sport and active recreation.
This position will foster positive and meaningful relationships with the Gladstone Region's sport and recreation organisations.
This position supports Council's direction by identifying and developing opportunities and strategies to enhance the capability and viability of sport and recreation organisations, assisting with the strategic planning and management of sport and recreation projects and contributing to the effective utilisation of sport and recreation facilities within the Gladstone Region.
Your role will include:
Identifying, contributing, and responding to community services sport and recreation initiatives.
Fostering positive and meaningful relationships with the Gladstone Region's sport and recreation organisations
Leading the development, promotion and continuous improvement of sport and recreational program events and initiatives.
Developing your career in local government

pro-active and solutions-focused and recognise that the community is the core of our business.
You will bring:
Relevant qualifications in Sport and Recreation, Community Development related disciplines and/or proven experience to carry out the responsibilities of the role.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in sport and recreation planning, program development and implementation, project management, community engagement and consultation.
High level interpersonal skills and effective communication (oral and written) skills to engage with a broad client base.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.
Must be eligible and willing to obtain on appointment, a positive notice Working with Children Blue Card.
Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
Ability to work occasional after hours and weekends or travel when required to increase community accessibility.
