Armajun Aboriginal Health Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) providing comprehensive primary health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the New England region of New South Wales.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and committed
Senior Medical Officer (SMO)
to provide high-quality clinical care while supporting the strategic and clinical leadership of our multidisciplinary team.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Team, and Nurse Manager, the Senior Medical Officer will contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, workforce development, and the delivery of culturally safe primary health care.
The Senior Medical Officer will also provide support and training to our 4 International Medical Graduates.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive general practice services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
Deliver evidence-based, culturally protected clinical care.
Provide clinical leadership and mentoring to medical practitioners and multidisciplinary teams.
Support clinical governance, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement.
Participate in organisational planning and service development.
Ensure compliance with professional standards and relevant legislation.
Foster collaborative relationships with hospitals, specialists,



and community partners.
Support registrar, and student supervision where applicable.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Ø Tertiary qualification in Medicine.
Ø Unconditional registration with AHPRA
Ø Previous experience as a Senior Medical Officer
Ø Accreditation as a GP supervisor, with ACCRM or RACGP
Ø Relevant post-graduate qualifications – FRACGP, FACCRM , MPH
Ø Demonstrated experience in the assessment and treatment of clients
Ø Sound knowledge in the areas of community health, public health and Aboriginal Health
Ø Demonstration of continuously developing professional competencies and qualifications
Ø Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including the National Police Check and Working with Children clearances
Desirable
Ø Experience working with health service agencies, non-government organisations, community groups and medical professionals at all levels
Ø Experience in working in Aboriginal Health
