Purchasing and Stock Coordinator
Beverage Marketing Australia, trading as Sunshine Coast Coffee Roastery, is seeking an organised and commercially minded
Purchasing and Stock Coordinator
to join our team.
We are an established and growing coffee roastery with our head office in Kunda Park on the Sunshine Coast and branches and warehouses in Brisbane, Gatton, Cairns and Melbourne.
Based at our Sunshine Coast head office, this role will coordinate purchase orders, stock movements and inventory processes across the business.
You will work closely with our warehouse team and other branches to ensure stock is available when required and all transactions are recorded accurately in SAP.
This position will initially be offered
four days per week
.
About the Role
The initial focus of the position is purchase-order administration and stock coordination rather than supplier negotiation or product selection.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Purchasing and SAP Administration
Creating and maintaining item codes as required
Raising purchase orders in SAP for products, equipment, hardware and spare parts
Accurately recording and monitoring stock movements in SAP
Ensuring purchase orders and stock transactions are completed accurately and on time
Checking and approving supplier invoices against purchase orders across all BMA warehouses
Communicating with suppliers by telephone, email and in person when required
Coordinating purchase orders and stock transfers with our other branches
Supporting purchasing decisions that balance stock availability, volume efficiencies and cash-flow requirements
Stock Coordination
Working closely with the warehouse team and Commercial Operations Manager, you will:
Help maintain appropriate stock levels across the business
Monitor stock availability and identify potential shortages or excess stock
Communicate stock issues to management, suppliers and selected customers when necessary
Monitor our top 50 stock items and coordinate monthly or quarterly stock counts
Assist with the coordination of half-yearly and annual stocktakes
Investigate and help resolve stock discrepancies
Coordinate stock transfers between branches when required
Consider freight costs and delivery efficiencies when planning purchases and stock movements
General Responsibilities
As part of a practical and collaborative operations team, you will also:
Provide warehouse or delivery support during busy periods, holidays and staff absences
Provide SAP assistance to other branches once you have developed the necessary knowledge
Work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to align purchasing, stock control and freight arrangements
Assist other departments when required and contribute to the wider operations of the business
Development Opportunity
As your knowledge and experience develop, there will be an opportunity to take on greater responsibility for:
Working autonomously with senior management
Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing and supply arrangements
Negotiating and maintaining pricing structures within relevant product and service categories
Identifying opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency and reduce costs
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in purchasing administration, inventory control, warehousing or a similar role would be advantageous; however, training will be provided to the successful applicant.
The ideal candidate will have:
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Solid communication and problem-solving skills
Confidence working in a fast-paced workplace
Good numerical and general computer skills
Previous experience using an accounting, inventory or business management system
The ability to prioritise tasks and meet required timeframes
A practical attitude and willingness to support the wider operations team
An interest in coffee or the beverage industry, although this is not essential
Experience using SAP would be highly regarded but is not essential.
Licences and Physical Requirements
A current Australian driver's licence is required
A current forklift licence would be advantageous
Applicants without a forklift licence should be willing to obtain one as the role develops
The successful applicant must be able to safely perform the inherent physical requirements of the position, including occasional warehouse and delivery support
