We Are Not Looking for Another Pickup Monkey
SOLGEO
has built a brilliant little team that is not afraid to take on large projects, difficult problems or something that has never been done before.
We are growing, but we are not interested in becoming another boring surveying company where good surveyors are treated like trained pickup monkeys who simply follow instructions, collect points and send the data back to someone else.
Surveyors should be professionals.
They should understand the project, challenge bad information, solve problems, communicate with clients and help drive better outcomes.
That is how we operate.
We work closely with our clients and project partners so they understand the real value surveying and geospatial professionals bring to a project.
We use traditional surveying skills, but we are not stuck in the traditional surveying model.
About SOLGEO
SOLGEO
is an engineering surveying and geospatial company working across mining, construction, renewable energy, infrastructure, local government and emerging spatial technologies.
We have built a close-knit team that takes pride in its work and supports each other when projects become challenging.
Through our Netherlands branch and relationships with major software developers, we are also involved in testing, developing and implementing new geospatial workflows and technologies.
That gives our surveyors exposure to more than just another earthworks job or another set of stringlines.
Our work can include:
- Engineering and construction surveying
- Mining and civil infrastructure
- SMP set-out and as-constructed surveying
- UAV mapping and reality capture
- Laser and mobile scanning
- GNSS and control networks
- Machine-control support
- GIS and digital project systems
- Supervisor-led spatial capture
- Research and development with international technology partners
We are not pretending every day will be revolutionary.

Some days you will still be setting out bolts, checking levels and completing as-constructed pickups.
The difference is that we want surveyors who understand why the work matters and who can see opportunities to improve the way it is delivered.
Who We Are Looking For
This advertisement is aimed at an experienced surveyor, or a qualified surveyor who has developed strong technical skills and is ready to take the next step in their career.
You do not need to know every piece of software or every type of survey.
You do need to be capable, honest and willing to think.
You may be the right person if you:
- Take professional pride in the quality of your work
- Can operate independently without needing every decision made for you
- Understand engineering and construction projects
- Are confident communicating with supervisors, engineers and clients
- Can identify problems before they become expensive
- Are interested in new technology and better ways of working
- Are willing to share knowledge and support less-experienced surveyors
- Want to contribute to a growing business rather than simply fill a roster position
- Are comfortable working remotely and adapting to changing project conditions
- Can admit when you do not know something and are willing to find the correct answer
We value experience, but we value attitude, honesty and professional judgement just as highly.
A person with the right qualifications, strong fundamentals and the drive to step up may be considered even if they have not previously held a senior title.
What We Do Not Want
We are not looking for someone who:
- Thinks surveying is only about collecting points
- Cuts corners when nobody is watching
- Blames everyone else when something goes wrong
- Refuses to learn new systems or technology
- Needs to be constantly supervised
- Talks like an expert but cannot support the claims on their CV
There is nothing wrong with not knowing everything.
There is a major problem with pretending that you do.

Have a Yarn With Us
We are building something with a bright future.
The geospatial industry is changing quickly, and SOLGEO intends to change with it rather than defend an outdated way of operating.
We do not have every answer, but we are willing to ask better questions, try recent ideas and back good people.
Come and have a yarn.

A Direct Note to Recruitment Agencies
Unsolicited recruitment approaches are not required.
Our previous experience with recruiters included candidates whose skills, experience and expectations were significantly misrepresented to both SOLGEO and the candidates themselves.
We will not accept misleading profiles, inflated experience, recycled CVs or candidates submitted without their clear knowledge and consent.
Any recruiter wishing to approach SOLGEO must first demonstrate that they understand surveying, have properly spoken with the candidate and can honestly verify the information being presented.
Do not waste the candidate's time, and do not waste ours.
