About The Team
Our Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance team is responsible for maintaining all mechanical and electrical infrastructure for community facilities, active utility infrastructure, poles, pits and conduits, and other electrical assets.
About The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter at the City, you will be responsible for performing minor works, and preventative, corrective and unplanned maintenance for all operational assets within our water, waste and energy network.
Maintenance activities can include works on water tanks/reservoirs, water pumping stations, wastewater pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants and associated mechanical, electrical and controls equipment.
Undertake repairs and maintenance duties (hands-on)Meet deadlines with all worksAssist in the development and training of apprenticesIdentify areas and actions within the planned maintenance scope that will improve the economic and operational life of plant and equipmentParticipate in the After Hours on Call RosterWork overtime as required
We currently have multiple vacancies including permanent and fixed-term full time positions, and we will be contacting suitable applicants on an ongoing basis until all positions are filled.
We're Looking For People Who Have
Certificate III in Fitting, Turning and Machining (Mandatory)Unrestricted C Class Drivers Licence (Mandatory)MR Drivers Licence (Desirable)General Construction Induction White Card (Desirable)Experience as a Maintenance Fitter in a challenging environmentWell-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to consult with a range of staff,



customers and the general publicThe ability to be part of a high performing team, working in line with internal policies and practices including employment equity, workplace health and safety, and corporate valuesSelf-motivation and the ability to get the job done right with limited supervisionA responsible attitude in relation to time keeping, work organisation and quality controlThe capacity to identify issues in a regulatory environment and recommend appropriate responses and solutionsInitiative and sound judgement with an ability to contribute to projects and initiativesThe physical capability to attain and maintain confined spaces certification and relevant machinery licencesHighly developed organisational skills in a utility-based environmentProficiency in using related technology for work purposes such as iPad, computer, email.
