The opportunity
LEI has an opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated person to join us on a part-time (0.2FTE), ongoing basis as the Indonesia and Global Eye Health Coordinator.
The role will be the coordinating point of contact for international doctors (principally from Indonesia, and increasingly from the wider region) who travel to Perth to undertake observerships at LEI and other hospitals/sites.
This involves liaison and relationship management, answering visitors' questions, coordinating clinical timetables, and assisting with practical matters such as visa-support letters, onboarding paperwork and accommodation, so that each visitor has a smooth, well-organised and rewarding experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Observerships and visiting doctors: coordinate and support internal doctors visiting Perth to observe at LEI, RPH, SCGH, PCH and other sites
Meetings, education and the Australia-Indonesia Symposium
Stakeholder relationships and partnerships
Grant administration
Data presentation and reporting
General administration and other
Essential Criteria:
A genuine interest in Indonesia and in making a difference to global eye health more broadly.
Solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear documents and reports and to deliver oral presentations (e.g. using PowerPoint).




Ability to communicate with people from varied cultures effectively and sensitively.
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and demonstrate efficient, effective time-management and organisational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and show initiative.
An effective and dynamic team member, able to communicate and work with other LEI departments and with key stakeholders as described in the role description.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience administering grants, or familiarity with grant processes.
Previous experience in a clinical environment dealing with patients.
Experience in a scheduling and/or logistics role.
Knowledge of Indonesian culture and of governance in the medical and research space.
