Redpath Partners is partnering with a specialised blast and coating facility supporting a major Australian defence shipbuilding program. We are recruiting a Controls Manager to establish and govern project controls across complex industrial and infrastructure projects.
Are you an experienced project controls professional with the ability to drive cost, schedule, risk and performance governance across major capital works? A rapidly expanding global leader in the Industrial Corrosion Control Industry is seeking an Adelaide-based Controls Manager to lead project controls for a major industrial facility program supporting naval shipbuilding and defence infrastructure in Adelaide, South Australia.
This senior operational role will establish and maintain the project controls framework, providing commercial insight, analytical rigour and strong governance to support decision making. Working closely with project leadership, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in line with contractual obligations.
The Role
As a Controls Manager, you will:
- Develop and maintain the project controls framework covering cost, schedule, risk, change management and reporting.
- Establish and manage project baselines across scope, budget, schedule and contract requirements.
- Monitor project performance through cost forecasting, schedule tracking, earned value analysis and productivity metrics.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules, including critical path analysis, milestones and resource planning.
- Lead cost control processes including budgeting, cost coding, commitments, accruals, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Manage change control, assessing commercial and schedule impacts of variations.
- Maintain risk registers and support mitigation planning.
- Provide clear reporting to executive leadership, clients and stakeholders.
- Support procurement with cost and schedule analysis for subcontractor selection and tender evaluation.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against schedule, cost and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, governance frameworks and defence/industry standards.
- Work with Finance to align project controls data with financial reporting.
- Maintain project documentation, registers and audit trails.
- Support continuous improvement of project controls tools, systems and processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business or related discipline.
- 7-10 years’ experience in project controls within infrastructure, defence, industrial or construction projects.
- Strong experience in cost control, scheduling, earned value management and risk management.
- Good understanding of project delivery frameworks, construction methodologies and commercial contracting.
- Experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments with strong governance requirements.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, ERP systems and cost management tools.
- Advanced Excel skills, including modelling, forecasting and data analysis.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to assess cost and schedule impacts.
- Experience presenting complex information clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical information for non-technical stakeholders.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government (AGSVA) security clearance. This role supports major naval and defence infrastructure projects delivered from Adelaide, South Australia.
