Lawyer - Administrative Law and Legislation

We have an chance for someone to join our Administrative Law and Legislation team as a lawyer on a full-time, ongoing basis. Reporting to the Managing Principal Lawyer – Administrative Law & Legislation, the role will assist with the provision of legal advice on administrative law and legislative reform matters affecting or involving IBAC.

Duties include:

- Provide oral and written legal advice in relation to administrative and public law matters, legislative reform and public interest disclosures affecting or involving IBAC to other business units within IBAC as necessary.
- Consider, assess and respond to issues concerning IBAC's statutory and compliance obligations under the IBAC Act or any other laws.
- Provide training, guidance and support to IBAC staff in meeting their legal obligations.

We are looking for candidates with the following experience and capabilities:

- Bachelor of Laws or equivalent legal qualification from a recognised tertiary institution
- Admission to practice as an Australian Lawyer.
- A practising certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law, or eligibility to acquire a practising certificate.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in administrative law,



public law or legislative reform will be highly regarded.
- Sound understanding of the principles of statutory interpretation and ability to apply them to legal and factual scenarios will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work with precision and accuracy.

To be eligible for employment with IBAC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.

Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
