A leading global bank is seeking a contractor to join their Sydney-based operations department focused on SWIFT Payments. The contract will be initially for 6 months with a high chance to extend to 12 months, and possibly go permanent.

Job Description

- Monitors payment processing applications. Reviews and validates payments submitted through various methods. Monitors and flags issues that arise with payment mechanisms and performs production validation.
- Processes funds transfer or settlement instructions in an accurate and timely manner to ensure adherence to payment cut-off times and SLAs; escalates issues as needed. Investigates differences in cash processing and performs settlements and reconciliations.
- Manages the daily processing of cash movements by bank clients and confirms validity of transactions with the manager in cash processing and client services managers with connection to clients.
- Researches and resolves client inquiries received from the client services team.
- Adheres to and completes regulatory and compliance monitoring and reporting as required.
- Serves as an escalation point for data processing issues and provides input on quality improvement processes.




- Responsible for the quality and completion of own work and supports actionable tasks assigned by the manager.
- Assists in collecting US tax documentation for IRS requirements.
- Participates in business initiatives including new projects and contributes to the achievement of team objectives.

Technical and Behavioral Competencies

- Bachelor''s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in financial services or a payment processing role preferred.
- Positive communication, organizational, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Knowledge of local payments systems (e.g., Austraclear) as well as the SWIFT payment system preferred.
