Tamworth City Toyota is an established and award-winning Dealership in North West NSW and has an opening for an Automotive Financial Controller. We operate across three locations in Tamworth, Armidale and Inverell with 120 employees. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of the automotive industry, working alongside strong leaders and a supportive team both onsite and at Servco Australia.
Our preference is for a fully qualified Accountant (CPA or CA) or currently undertaking or willing to undertake CA/CPA studies, reporting directly to the Dealer Principal, with additional reporting to Servco Australia. The position will manage, coach and develop a stable and highly experienced Administration team. This position is based in Tamworth where our administration department is located.
Tamworth is a growing regional hub in North West NSW and in the 4th quarter of 2026 Tamworth City Toyota will be relocating to a new state of the art Greenfield Dealership.
Responsibilities
Develop annual budgets and forecasts using pre-existing templates, with associated time projections for their achievement
Closely monitor daily operations, creating and implementing action plans to address actual vs budget variances
Oversee the monthly financial statement to ensure it is complete, accurate and submitted on time to manufacturers and head office
Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts and maintain Account Provisions as per Servco Company Policies
Oversee that the payroll is processed in a timely manner with appropriate dispersal of payments to staff
Monitor dealership expenses to ensure compliance, correct allocation and conformity with Servco Group Policy
Ensure that Accounts Payable are paid on a timely basis and Accounts Receivable are collected promptly and within credit terms
Ensure execution and compliance with internal audit requirements
Prepare schedules and reconciliations to ensure external auditors are able to complete the company statutory accounts and tax return
Maintain accuracy of Daily Operating Control and weekly management reports
Preparation of General Insurance Claims and Insurance renewals
Preparation of Workers Compensation Claims and policy renewals
Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and that the dealership entitlements have been properly claimed from the Manufacturer, Distributor and Finance Company
Creating and maintaining a sound working relationship with other department managers and assisting them with budgets and collating and analysing results
Actively participate in monthly management meetings to contribute information on progress results and raise any issues of concern
Sound knowledge of all dealership departments and proven strategies to deliver results across the departments
Hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring all Administration staff
Effectively communicate with the Dealer Principal to produce and review progressive trading results
Maintain relationships with the manufactures and third parties to ensure understanding of Franchisor policies, procedures etc. to enable fulfilment of obligations by all parties concerned
Possess a clear understanding of how the financial controller can make maximum contribution to overall company results, develop a framework for continuous improvement in company processes

Skills & Experience
Demonstrate outstanding team leadership and management experience preferably in dealership/s
Appropriate accounting qualifications and experience are mandatory, CPA or CA preferred
High level of computer literacy withexperience ina range of Microsoft Office programs and Manufacturer and Financier interfaces
Extensive experience with Dealership Management Systems (TUNE experience preferred)
Willingness to get involved to work as a vital part of the management team to ensure collaborative and productive outcomes and to provide wise counsel to the Dealer Principal
Strong communicator with a positive attitude and the capacity to prioritise and handle a varied workload. Effective time management skills are a must
Able to handle challenges and difficult situations, along with meeting deadlines and implementing plans on KPI improvements
