Collingwood
The Garden is looking for an ambitious Client Manager who is ready to own the day-to-day client experience, lead projects with confidence and help brands grow through smarter, faster marketing. The role could be based in our offices in Melbourne of Sydney.
For 15 years, we've specialised in the customer journeys behind life's biggest decisions, helping brands connect every interaction, build confidence and turn consideration into commercial action. Today, we build and run Marketing Operating Systems that give clients the speed, intelligence and accountability to grow with confidence.
This role sits at the centre of that system. You'll manage a portfolio of clients and projects end-to-end, working across strategy, creative, media and technology through our Growth Loop. You'll be the primary day-to-day client contact, owning scope, timelines, briefs, workflow and delivery, while building the strategic capability to become a trusted advisor to your clients.
We're particularly interested in people who are AI-native, already experimenting with AI in their work, or genuinely excited to build that capability. You don't need to arrive as an AI expert. You do need to be curious, hands-on and motivated to use AI to improve speed, insight and quality from scoping and meeting notes to ideation, reporting and analysis.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day management of a portfolio of clients, delivering work on time, on budget and to a high standard.
- Manage complex projects through the full agency production cycle, maintaining a strong grip on scope, timelines, dependencies and next steps.
- Act as the central point of contact for clients, building trust, understanding the real need behind the brief and keeping communication clear and proactive.
- Work closely with Client Partners, Senior Client Managers and the Strategy and Growth team to translate client goals into meaningful strategies, campaigns and measurable KPIs.
- Brief work clearly into the agency, including through Asana, and coordinate with media, performance, creative, copy, design, video, technology and finance teams to keep delivery moving.
- Quality-check agency outputs against the original brief and provide clear,
objective and directional feedback before work reaches the client.
- Manage client reporting and performance conversations, drawing out key learnings, trends and opportunities and adapting the story to the client's level of understanding and needs.
- Use AI and automation to accelerate the project lifecycle, project scoping, briefing, creative exploration, reporting and analysis as well as meeting notes.
- Contribute to client growth by understanding account performance, identifying opportunities, supporting revenue targets and helping turn ideas into commercially valuable work.
- Anticipate roadblocks and capacity issues early, communicate them clearly and bring a solution-first mindset to resolving them.
- Support and guide Client Executives where required, helping them prioritise work, learn the agency workflow and build strong client service habits.
Attributes and Abilities
- Proactive, positive and self-motivated, with the confidence to operate autonomously and take ownership of outcomes.
- AI-curious and practical, be comfortable experimenting with new tools, testing better ways of working and sharing what you learn.
- Exceptionally organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of moving parts without losing quality.
- A strong communicator and listener who can turn complex client needs into clear, actionable and inspiring instructions for internal teams.
- Commercially and analytically minded, with the ability to understand client metrics, spot trends and use evidence to improve decisions.
- Collaborative and relationship-led, able to work across disciplines and understand how your decisions affect the wider agency workflow.
- Calm and adaptable in quick-moving or ambiguous situations, with a solution-first approach to problem solving.
- Curious about the industry and motivated to bring outside-in thinking,
competitor insights and new ideas to clients and colleagues.
- Committed to growth through feedback, mentorship and continuous learning - both as a student and, increasingly, as a teacher to others.
Experience
- Around 2-4 years of experience as a Digital Account Executive, Account Executive or in a similar client-facing role, ideally within a fast-paced agency environment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating digital marketing projects and managing multiple stakeholders, deadlines and deliverables.
- A solid understanding of the digital marketing landscape; experience across performance media, creative, CRM, customer experience or marketing automation is advantageous.
- Experience working with a marketing cloud or CRM platform such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Adobe, Oracle or similar is highly regarded.
- Property or Education experience would be an advantage, given our specialist history in high-consideration customer journeys.
- A relevant degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital, Economics, PR, Project Management or a related discipline is preferred.
- Evidence of using AI tools in your workflow, or a clear appetite to learn quickly and apply them responsibly to real client and delivery challenges.
What about our team?
Marketing is moving faster than most teams can handle, so our job is to build systems that can learn and act at the same pace. Our promise is to keep clients ahead of the market, not catching up to it. That means specialist expertise connected through our Growth Loop, where strategy, creative, media and technology work as one.
You'll join a team that values Respect, Innovation, Mentorship and Accountability. We treat people fairly and equally, learn, build and measure, believe everyone is both a student and a teacher, and take responsibility for our performance and the quality of our work.
So you're a little different?
At The Garden, we believe strong performance comes from different perspectives, inclusive teams and people who are willing to question, learn and contribute. We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds who bring the skills, attitude and curiosity to grow with us.
Great systems amplifying great people.
