READY TO BUILD MORE THAN TAX RETURNS?

DMT Accounting is looking for an ambitious and client-focused Accountant to join our growing team in Robina.

We are open to applicants at Graduate, Accountant, Intermediate or Senior Accountant level. Your starting position will reflect your experience, with a clear pathway to progress as your skills and responsibilities develop.

This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about business, enjoys working with people and wants to develop beyond traditional compliance accounting.

We work hard and maintain high professional standards, but we also believe people perform at their best when they enjoy where they work. We celebrate our wins, make time for staff functions and team activities, and enjoy having plenty of laughs along the way.

ABOUT DMT ACCOUNTING

DMT Accounting is a growing boutique accounting and business advisory firm based in Robina on the Gold Coast.

We work closely with small and medium-sized businesses, families and investors across a variety of industries. Our approach is personal, practical and proactive. We educate our clients, explain complex matters clearly and help them make informed financial and business decisions.

We are building a fresh, energetic and collaborative firm where people can be themselves, contribute ideas and enjoy coming to work.

At DMT Accounting, we want to create one of the best workplace cultures in the industry, one where people feel valued, supported and motivated to grow. We remain professional and take our responsibility to clients seriously, while also making time for personality, collaboration, knowledge sharing and plenty of fun along the way. We want every team member to feel comfortable asking questions, contributing ideas and building a career they are genuinely proud of.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your responsibilities will be tailored to your level of experience and may include:

- Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, sole traders and individuals
- Preparing Business Activity Statements and other taxation compliance work
- Assisting with tax planning, business structuring, forecasting and cash-flow management
- Reviewing client financial results and identifying risks and opportunities
- Communicating directly with clients and explaining technical matters in practical language
- Developing genuine, long-term client relationships
- Managing your own priorities, workflow and job list
- Taking ownership of assigned work from commencement through to completion
- Participating in client meetings and learning how different businesses operate
- Using Xero and other cloud-based accounting systems
- Contributing ideas to improve our systems and client experience
- Reviewing work and mentoring junior accountants as your experience develops

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Technical capability is important, but attitude, communication and personality matter just as much to us.

You may be a strong fit if you:

- Are ambitious, motivated and genuinely interested in business
- Care about providing an exceptional client experience
- Communicate confidently and can explain complex matters clearly
- Learn quickly, ask thoughtful questions and respond positively to feedback

- Take ownership and follow your responsibilities through to completion
- Can organise your priorities and manage multiple deadlines
- Enjoy working directly with clients and building professional relationships
- Want to develop beyond compliance accounting
- Bring a positive attitude and enjoy being part of a close-knit team
- Are comfortable having a laugh while still knowing when it is time to focus
- Contribute ideas and are willing to support the people around you
- See yourself eventually mentoring others and leading a team

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to our culture, not simply turn up, complete a list of jobs and go home.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

We are open to applicants at different stages of their accounting career. Your attitude, communication skills, practical capability and willingness to learn will be considered alongside your formal qualifications.

Graduate applicants

- Completed or currently completing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce or a related discipline
- A genuine interest in taxation, business and client advisory
- A willingness to continue developing your technical and professional knowledge
- Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, administration or customer service is beneficial but not essential

Experienced accountant applicants

- A relevant accounting, commerce or business qualification, or equivalent practical experience
- Australian public-practice experience in taxation and business services is highly regarded
- Experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns for small and medium-sized businesses
- Working knowledge of Australian income tax, GST and business compliance requirements
- Experience using Xero, Microsoft Office and cloud-based accounting systems
- Strong communication, organisation and client-service skills

Senior Accountant applicants

- Demonstrated Australian public-practice experience in taxation and business services
- Strong technical knowledge across common small-business structures and taxation matters
- The ability to manage jobs, deadlines and client relationships independently
- Experience participating in or leading client meetings
- Experience reviewing work or mentoring developing accountants is highly regarded
- A recognised professional qualification or membership, including with the Institute of Public Accountants, CA or CPA is beneficial but not essential

DMT Accounting supports ongoing professional development and encourages team members to pursue relevant education, training and professional membership where it aligns with their career goals and responsibilities.

WHAT WE OFFER

We want to reward people who perform well, contribute to our culture and build their career with DMT Accounting.

Our benefits include

- Above-market remuneration based on your experience and capability

- Six-monthly performance bonuses linked to agreed individual and team KPIs
- Five weeks of annual leave each year after completing four years of continuous service
- A clear pathway from Graduate through to Accountant, Senior Accountant, Supervisor and Team Leader
- Regular performance, remuneration and career-development reviews
- Direct mentoring and access to the Director
- Genuine client exposure from an early stage
- Practical tax-planning and business-advisory experience
- Hybrid working arrangements, including the ability to work from home
- Ongoing professional development and training support
- Support toward relevant professional membership and approved study
- Regular staff functions, team lunches and activities
- Recognition of important service and career milestones
- A modern Robina office and a friendly, approachable team
- Increasing responsibility, flexibility and autonomy as your capability develops
- The opportunity to help shape the culture and future of a growing accounting firm

We believe strong performance should be recognised, loyalty should be rewarded and career progression should lead to greater responsibility, flexibility and financial opportunity.

YOUR CAREER PATHWAY

We want every team member to understand what their next career step looks like and what they need to achieve to reach it.

Progression is based on demonstrated capability, not simply length of service. As you develop your technical knowledge, client relationships, workflow management, advisory skills and leadership capability, you will receive greater responsibility, increased client ownership and corresponding remuneration growth.

OUR HYBRID MODEL

We believe flexibility is key, but so are collaboration, learning and strong client relationships.

The role includes the ability to work from home, together with regular time in our Robina office and direct client interaction.

Graduates and developing accountants will initially spend more time in the office to support their training and mentoring. Flexibility will increase as technical knowledge, independence and client-management capability develop.

WHY JOIN DMT ACCOUNTING?

We do not want our accountants hidden behind spreadsheets all day.

We want you involved in conversations, meeting clients, understanding how their businesses operate and seeing how practical advice can make a genuine difference.

We also want you to enjoy the people you work with. There will be busy periods and deadlines, as there are in every accounting firm, but we believe those challenges are easier when you are surrounded by a supportive team that works together and can still have a laugh.

If you want to learn quickly, take ownership of your career, build meaningful client relationships and enjoy yourself along the way, we would love to hear from you.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit your résumé and a brief cover letter telling us:

- Why you are interested in joining DMT Accounting
- What an exceptional client experience means to you
- Where you would like your accounting career to progress over the next three to five years
- A little about yourself outside of accounting

All applications will be treated confidentially.
