Company Description
Wobbi Logix is an Australian-owned transport and logistics company delivering reliable, tech-driven solutions across the nation. Based in Melbourne CBD, we run a dynamic team with strong operational standards and a focus on excellence across finance, compliance, and business support.
Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to take ownership of the accounting function across the business. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident managing the full accounting cycle - from reconciliations and month-end close through to financial reporting, tax compliance, and business analysis.
You will own the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records, prepare the reporting management relies on to make decisions, and work closely with operations teams, suppliers, contractors, and external advisors. The role carries real responsibility and suits someone ready to move beyond transactional processing into reporting, analysis, and compliance ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Own month-end and year-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cashflow.
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records and the general ledger within Xero.
- Manage and review Accounts Payable, including supplier invoices, RCTIs, statement checking, and payment runs.
- Manage and review Accounts Receivable, including customer invoicing, receipting, and collections follow-up.
- Complete bank, credit card,
and supplier statement reconciliations, along with balance sheet reconciliations across GST and clearing accounts.
- Manage, oversee and review BAS, GST, PAYG, and superannuation, and support FBT and income tax obligations alongside external advisors.
- Prepare weekly and monthly management reports, including P&L; by operational division, margin analysis, and variance commentary.
- Analyse transport costs - subcontractor payments, fuel, tolls, and overheads - to identify margin and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management, and track performance against targets.
- Investigate financial variances and provide reporting insights to management.
- Work with operations teams to ensure accurate cost allocation across transport and logistics activities.
- Process and reconcile payroll and support employee payment queries and record keeping.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors, and support audits, reviews, and compliance processes.
- Maintain registers for licences, insurance, supplier records, and compliance documentation.
- Resolve invoice and payment discrepancies with suppliers, contractors, and customers professionally and efficiently.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes and internal controls.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- At least 4-5 years' experience in an accounting role, ideally covering the full accounting cycle.
- Experience using Xero is required.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian accounting standards, BAS, GST, PAYG, and month-end processes.
- Proven experience preparing financial statements, management reports, and P&L; analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence with reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Sound written and verbal communication, with the confidence to present financial information to management.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a quick-paced environment.
- Experience in transport, logistics, or a similar operational industry will be highly regarded.
- Full working rights in Australia.
What We Offer
- Ownership of a broad accounting function with genuine scope for impact.
- Career progression and long-term growth within a growing business.
- Ongoing mentoring and professional development.
- Close working relationships with management and involvement in process improvement.
- A supportive and collaborative workplace culture.
- A convenient Melbourne CBD office with easy public transport access.
If you are a capable accountant ready to take ownership and contribute to a growing business, we would like to hear from you.
