Cove is the operating entity for Deck2 Capital. Together, we acquire and operate good businesses with untapped potential and make them exceptional. We do this by taking majority positions in digital companies that distribute insurance. Cove then applies a shared platform of technology, data, talent, and playbooks to each business we acquire.
As acquisition marketing manager you'll o wn a multi-million-dollar ($XX M+) annual paid-media budget across search (Google, Bing) and metasearch (Kayak, Skyscanner), and build the paid strategy that scales as Cove acquires more companies. You set the bidding strategy, targets, and segment-level logic; the automated systems execute it.
You're accountable for paid marketing profitability across the portfolio — partnering with the Marketing Engineer, who builds the bidding systems, and the central data team, who provide the performance signal. The role is based in Australia, reports into Growth, and works alongside the Marketing Engineer as a peer.
This role is based in our harbourfront Manly office
, based across the road from the Ferry terminal for easy commutes. We're a hybrid workplace and ask that the team works in-person 2-3 days per week.
What you'll do:
- Own and allocate a $XX M+ annual paid-media budget: across channels and markets — accountable for ROAS at portfolio level.
- Build the paid playbook that scales: turn what works at one company into a repeatable approach for each recent acquisition.
- Set the bidding strategy: define the logic the automated systems run: which destinations, source markets, and segments to push or pull, ROI thresholds, and budget allocation.
- Manage the search accounts:
structure, keywords and queries, ad copy, negatives, and fresh account builds.
- Analyse performance deeply: CVR, ROAS, and CLTV by destination, source market, channel, and device, surfacing opportunities (e.g. high-CVR / low-rank segments) and problems.
- QA and sign off bid changes before they run live: partner with the Marketing Engineer on the systems and the data team on the signal.
- Run experiments: bid-strategy tests, tROAS and act on the results.
- Manage platform and agency relationships: Google, Bing
- Report performance clearly: to commercial stakeholders.
What you bring
- A track record running paid budgets at meaningful scale (multi-million) improving efficiency, not just spending it.
- Hands-on paid search experience (Google, Bing); metasearch (Kayak, Skyscanner, Trivago) a strong plus; travel / OTA background ideal.
- A commercial mindset you optimize to margin and NCI, not vanity volume.
- Strong analytical skills fluent in performance data, comfortable in spreadsheets, able to read CVR / ROAS / attribution and act on it.
- Portfolio / multi-entity thinking you can stand up and standardise paid across several businesses, not just optimise one account.
- Comfort steering automated and programmatic bidding
(rules-based or platform bidding like tROAS / Smart Bidding) you don't build the systems, but you decide what they do.
- Clear communication with commercial stakeholders, and a test-measure-learn bias.
Nice to have
- SQL / data literacy to self-serve analysis.
- Multi-market, multi-currency travel experience.
- Familiarity with bid management or feed management systems.
