New Forests (www.newforests.com) seeks a self-motivated individual for this full-time position. Working within the Investments team focused on Australia and New Zealand, you will be given broad exposure to investment activity across natural capital investments including forestry, agriculture, carbon and related infrastructure.
This role would suit a recent graduate or those with 1-2 years’ transactions experience and an interest in natural capital investments. To be successful in this role, you will have a calm and orderly approach to uncertain and changing priorities, seek and accept responsibility for defined tasks and will demonstrate an ability to absorb more responsibility over time.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Investments Team across all investment transactions (acquisitions and divestments) in Australia and New Zealand, covering forestry, agriculture, carbon, related infrastructure and processing.
- Build financial and valuation models and run ad hoc analysis that directly inform investment decisions.
- Conduct research on companies, industries, and asset classes to build a deep understanding of the investable universe.
- Assist in preparation of investment memorandums and other transaction documentation for the investment committee, separately managed accounts, and co-investment opportunities.
- Support the investment team in transaction execution from origination to closing
- Own the investment pipeline and transaction database on behalf of the wider team.
- Lead the preparation of investor reporting, including quarterly reports, transaction summaries, and ad hoc client reporting.
- Lead the development of tools to improve team efficiency.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Relevant undergraduate qualifications with strong academic achievement.
- Experience in investment banking, M&A; advisory, private equity, management consulting, or real assets investing.
- Excellent financial modelling and valuation skills with experience applying those in the context of investment analysis (critical).
- A strong understanding of investment theory and valuation principles (critical).
- Excellent reporting skills in PowerPoint, Word, and other formats (critical).
- Experience in forestry, agriculture, private equity, investment banking or real asset investments (desirable but not required).
- Experience using AI tools to problem-solve and automate tasks (desirable but not required).
- Robust analytical skills, high motivation and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
