Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced API Test Automation Lead with strong hands-on expertise in REST Assured and Java to lead API automation, test strategy, and quality engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience designing scalable API automation frameworks, leading testing teams, and validating complex REST APIs and microservices.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of API automation frameworks using REST Assured and Java .
- Define and implement API test strategies, automation approaches, and best practices .
- Develop automated test scenarios covering functional, integration, regression, negative, and end-to-end API testing .
- Validate REST APIs, microservices, request/response payloads, status codes, headers, authentication, and error handling .
- Integrate API automation suites with CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.
- Work closely with developers, architects, business teams, and other QA teams to identify quality risks and testing requirements.




- Perform API validation using tools such as Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI .
- Implement test data management, reusable utilities, assertions, reporting, and framework enhancements.
- Mentor and guide automation engineers and drive technical excellence within the QA team.
- Analyze automation failures, investigate defects, and work with development teams for resolution.
- Contribute to overall test planning, estimation, defect management, and quality metrics .

Mandatory Skills

- Strong hands-on experience with REST Assured
- Strong Java programming experience
- Extensive experience in API Testing and API Automation
- Experience developing automation frameworks from scratch
- Robust knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP methods, status codes, headers, and authentication
- Experience with Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI
- Experience with TestNG or JUnit
- Experience integrating automation with Jenkins / GitLab / Azure DevOps CI/CD
- Strong understanding of Microservices and API integration testing
- Experience leading or mentoring QA/Automation teams
