The Category Buying team works closely with the Planning team to drive sales, maximise profit, manage intake and ensure forward-thinking ranges engage our customers.
As the Assistant Category Buyer , you will report to the Category Buyer. You will support the department strategy, vision and budget planning, while helping drive sales growth within your category in alignment with the company's commercial strategy.
We are currently looking for an Assistant Category Buyer on a 12-month max-term contract to join our Womenswear team.
Key Responsibilities..
- Understand and support company-wide strategies and OKRs.
- Assist in the procurement of your category.
- Work with the Category Buyer and Senior Category Buyer to monitor inventory levels and maintain adequate stock availability.
- Support the Category Administrator to resolve issues or discrepancies with orders, invoices or deliveries.
- Manage conversations with vendors regarding order, invoice or delivery issues.
- Analyse data, interpret trends and propose informed decisions.
- Collaborate with vendors to achieve mutual goals and foster strong partnerships.
- Evaluate vendor performance and assist in the selection, deactivation and exit process.
- Negotiate favourable commercial terms for both commission-based (Platform)
and OTB-based (Wholesale) vendors.
- Identify vendor supply chain challenges through regular quality assurance reviews.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure timely deliveries.
- Resolve issues or discrepancies with orders, invoices and deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and industry regulations.
- Manage vendor administration to ensure accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to improve the customer onsite experience.
- Use analytical skills to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and key internal stakeholders across Marketing, Vendor Management, Operations and Finance.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Adapt to changing market conditions and embrace new skills and approaches.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by management.
What It Takes..
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Assistant Buyer in a high-volume business.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage workload in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritise tasks.
- Proficiency in Jira, Excel, BI, BC, with knowledge of API integrations and platform software preferred.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
