Primary objective
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, provide initiative and educational leadership in leading school improvement focused on improving student outcomes. An Assistant Principal should inspire students, staff and community members to optimise the learning and engagement of all students. They lead specific strategic priorities across the College which contribute to the College vision and improvement agenda. The strategic priority this position is leading, is implementing the
Middle and Senior Years Curriculum.

Taminmin College is a large, comprehensive, and complex Independent Public School that services the rural area of Darwin,
catering for students from Years 7 to 12. The College Values of: Respect, Effort towards Excellence, Achieve your Goals,
Caring Community and Honesty are embedded in all school operations. The school operates a large farm, a successful
Vocational Education and Training program, a Big Picture Learning Academy,

Key duties and responsibilities
- Participate fully as a member of the College’s Executive Leadership Team and assist the Principal with the leadership of the school community to achieve the College’s mission and vision.
- Drive pedagogical and curriculum leadership that maximises student engagement, retention and achievement within the
College.
- Provide high level leadership and data informed solutions to the operations of Student Services, Curriculum, Human
Resources and Inclusive Education to drive change and continuous improvement in all facets of the College.
- Models and drives expectations for all staff to achieve high standards and to build their capacity through professional development and performance management.
- Develop relationships with families and community groups to promote the College and its role in the wider community.
- Undertake teaching responsibilities in accordance with College and other relevant polices.
Selection criteria
Essential
- Demonstrated capacity to model best practice secondary teaching and learning.
- Proven ability to build the capacity of self, others and high performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage, in partnership with the Executive Leadership Team, innovation and change to achieve improvement across the College.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the strategic priorities of the College and Staff Wellbeing, in alignment with school and department strategic goals.
5. Demonstrated ability to build a shared culture of high expectations, while developing and maintaining effective interpersonal and cross-cultural relationships, within and beyond a school community.
