The Assurance and Biodiversity Stewardship (ABS) Branch is seeking expressions of interest for an Assistant Project Officer to join the Biodiversity Stewardship Agreement (BSA) Coordination Team.

About You

We are looking for people who have the ability to work in a high-volume working environment under guidance and direction, while exercising sound judgment to identify and escalate complex issues to appropriate specialist staff.

In addition, you will also have capacity to review issues and provide practical or innovative recommendations to supervisors, in line with organisational policies and guidelines.

You will be competent working between several document management systems and have a dedication to thorough record keeping.

You may be a valuable fit if you have knowledge of natural resource management and related professional experience.

A background in, or interest in learning about geographic information systems would be beneficial.

Key knowledge and experience

You will work within a dynamic team supporting the receipt, review and approval of BSA applications and delivering conservation outcomes across NSW. The creation of BSAs is guided by the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and the Biodiversity Conservation Regulation 2017.

Tasks will include application administration, coordination pre-submission meetings, fee payments, stakeholder engagement, spatial and eligibility review, reporting and supporting consultation, and agreement drafting.



The role develops and maintains information systems and responds to customer and applicant enquiries and helps to deliver application processing in a fast-moving environment.

Participation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS)
