About the opportunity

We now have an exciting recent fixed-term opportunity for an Associate Director of Development until March 2029.

Through developing relationships with the alumni and donors of St John's College you will raise philanthropic support for scholarships, facilities, or sustainability of the College. The Associate Director of Development is responsible for raising major financial gifts that will support St John's College within the University of Sydney.

With support from across the team and the leadership, you will build relationships through face-to-face meetings with donors, alumni, and friends of the College. The most unexpected conversations will lead to great things. Your work could give a student the opportunity to study at the oldest university in Australia thanks to a donation towards scholarship support, or could ensure the continuation of the second oldest residential college in Australia.

- A background in major gifts , with a demonstrated ability to identify and negotiate multi 6 figure plus gift opportunities
- a strong track record of achievement and meeting stretch financial targets
- demonstrated relationship building and strong leadership skills with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders
- can work autonomously and is naturally a high-achiever and driven by success both professionally and personally
- has highly developed emotional intelligence ,



you are self-aware with exceptional interpersonal skills
- demonstrated mentoring/coaching of junior development colleagues
- has superior time-management, prioritisation, and organisation skills

About St John's College

Founded in 1857, St John's College is the oldest Catholic and second-oldest residential college at the University of Sydney. It offers a co-educational, supportive community of about 260 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is distinguished by its grand Gothic Revival architecture, robust academic tutoring, and vibrant social culture.
