CW Aviation Security Consulting
Brisbane
About us: CW-ASC helps airports, regulators, and the air cargo industry meet their aviation security obligations.
CW-ASC has more than 25 years of experience, gained in more than 50 countries, and works with both regulators and operators. It's instructed by governments, civil aviation authorities, international organisations, airport operators, and the air cargo industry, delivering expert guidance on strategy, governance, oversight, and workforce capability.
CW-ASC’s focus is on delivering sustainable, long-term solutions to clients that achieve operational efficiencies and seamless implementation while meeting the highest levels of regulatory compliance.
About the job: Part of CW-ASC's business is assisting the aviation, air cargo, and maritime industries meet their Australian Government security screener accreditation requirements in accordance with the Department of Home Affairs Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre (CISC) Screener Accreditation Scheme. CW-ASC needs a casual Accreditor based in Brisbane. This Accreditor may also be required to travel to ports around Queensland.
This is ad hoc work, and would suit a person who already works in the aviation or air cargo industry but has the capacity to take on an additional day of work from time to time. The role of an Accreditor is to travel to airports, seaports, or cargo facilities and administer accreditation tests on security screeners to determine whether they are competent to perform their screening roles. These visits usually take between one and two days to complete depending on the number of screeners to be accredited.
Accreditors need specialised knowledge and understanding of security screening processes to effectively administer accreditation tests. This includes the ability to make decisions and use judgement in assessing screener capabilities, and to resolve issues that may arise during the administration of tests.
About you: Experience in aviation or air cargo security is essential.
It's an Australian Government requirement that Accreditors can demonstrate Australian experience as either a screener or a trainer of screeners. If you’re already a qualified Accreditor, then we want to hear from you.
Ideally we're looking for people with five or more years of Australian aviation security experience as a screener, screening supervisor, screener trainer, aviation security auditor, or transport security inspector. An existing workplace assessment qualification would also be valued. For example, a TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a TAESS00015 Enterprise Trainer and Assessor Skill Set (statement of attainment), or a TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set (statement of attainment) Outstanding Accreditors enjoy meeting new people, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as you spend your time interacting with screeners, supervisors, and managers.
You will be the accreditation face of CW-ASC, so professionalism and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships is essential. You will also need to be able to work independently, manage unexpected situations, and make independent decisions. To become a qualified Accreditor, you need to undergo a background check, secure an Aviation or Maritime Security Identification Card (ASIC or MSIC), complete accreditor training, and complete accreditor refresher training every 24 months.
Responsibilities:
Preparation and planning in advance of the accreditations
Entering screener data into the accreditation system
Coordinating with the CW-ASC services coordinator on client details and travel arrangements
Administering the accreditation testing on site, including X-ray image interpretation testing and workplace practical assessments
Completing the required post-accreditation paperwork What we offer:
The opportunity to do your part to keep airline and cruise ship passengers secure
Autonomy and responsibility A supportive working environment where you know that you’re valued, and you know that you can ask questions and challenge existing processes if they don't make sense The training, development and mentoring you need to do your job The chance to grow in the role as the company grows
