UNE Life's Student Experience team is seeking a Bistro Coordinator to establish and maintain the Bistro as a welcoming community hub that strengthens campus vibrancy and student wellbeing. This is a hands-on role that combines food and beverage service delivery with event coordination, community engagement, and stakeholder management.

From enrolment through graduation, UNE Life supports a smooth and fulfilling journey by managing a wide range of student-focused services and amenities. These include sporting facilities and clubs, a student-powered radio station, advocacy and welfare support, academic retail services, on-campus cafés, events and catering, healthcare centre and a hairdressing salon.
Every initiative is designed to enhance wellbeing, engagement, and campus life for students. UNE Life is strongly student-centric and continuously seeks new ways to improve the overall student experience.
Role Description The Bistro Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in New South Wales, Australia. This role is responsible for coordinating daily operations of the bistro, including supervising service, and ensuring a welcoming,
inclusive environment for students and other guests.
The Bistro
Coordinator works closely with the Student Experience Team to develop and deliver initiatives that foster student engagement through food, social interaction, and events. Day-to-day tasks include scheduling and overseeing front-of-house activities, maintaining quality and presentation standards, monitoring stock and liaising with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene requirements. The role also involves collaborating with other UNE Life services to support campus events, gathering feedback to improve the bistro experience, and contributing to a positive, community-focused atmosphere.

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and organisational skills A genuine passion for student wellbeing and community connection
Experience coordinating events or managing venue operations in a community-focused workplace
Understanding of food and beverage operations and hospitality best practice
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a diverse team
Understanding of responsible service of alcohol practices and have / or be willing to get a NSW RSA Certification
