The Opportunity

Kinky Lizard is seeking an experienced and skilled Chef to join its kitchen team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes in accordance with the venue’s recipes, presentation standards and food-safety requirements. This position is suitable for a qualified Chef with experience working in a busy café or restaurant environment.

The successful applicant must be able to maintain consistent food quality, manage multiple orders during busy service periods and contribute positively to the daily operation of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, season and cook breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes in accordance with Kinky Lizard’s recipes and presentation standards.
- Check the quality, freshness and suitability of ingredients before preparation and service.
- Operate and regulate ovens, grills, fryers, stovetops and other commercial kitchen equipment.
- Cook and present dishes such as egg-based meals, burgers, sandwiches, toasties, salads and other café menu items.
- Portion meals, arrange food on plates and add appropriate sauces, garnishes and accompaniments.
- Prepare meals for customers with allergies, intolerances or other dietary requirements.
- Monitor cooking times and coordinate orders to ensure meals are served promptly and consistently during busy service periods.




- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and follow appropriate stock-rotation and food-labelling procedures.
- Maintain compliance with food-safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, preparation areas and workstations.
- Monitor ingredient and stock levels and advise the kitchen supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.
- Assist with maintaining consistent food quality, portion sizes and presentation across all menu items.
- Provide guidance and practical training to junior kitchen staff and kitchen assistants when required.
- Complete assigned duties within the required timeframes while maintaining a clean, organized and efficient kitchen.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- At least two years of relevant experience working as a chef in a busy café or restaurant setting.
- Experience preparing and cooking breakfast, brunch and lunch menu items.
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control and presentation standards.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, stock rotation and allergen-management requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently and remain organized during busy service periods.
- Good communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.
- Willingness to assist and train junior kitchen employees when required.
