**Claims Manager
About Us**
Interlink Insurance Brokers is a leader in commercial, corporate, and risk management services, supporting clients across industries including construction, manufacturing, transport, and logistics.
We are seeking an experienced Claims Manager to lead our Claims function across General Insurance and Western Australian Workers Compensation.
The Role The Claims Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of the Claims department, overseeing a portfolio of approximately 320 active claims, comprising approximately 70% General Insurance and 30% Workers Compensation claims.
This is a senior, hands-on role combining technical claims management, team leadership, client advocacy, compliance, reporting, and strategic oversight.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee the end-to-end management of General Insurance and Workers Compensation claims, from lodgment through to settlement, recovery, and finalisation.
- Maintain oversight of the full claims portfolio, including reserves, claim progress, outstanding actions, ageing, recoveries, aggregate impacts, and key deadlines.
- Manage complex, disputed, high-value, litigated, or escalated claims and complaints.
- Review policy coverage, insurer decisions, settlement calculations, assessments, repair scopes, and loss adjuster recommendations.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to achieve fair, timely, and commercially appropriate outcomes.
- Manage claims across multiple General Insurance classes, including motor, property, liability, marine, business interruption, machinery breakdown, construction, and other commercial risks.
- Manage Workers Compensation claims, including liability, wage reimbursements, medical treatment, rehabilitation, suitable duties, return-to-work planning, and claim finalisation.
- Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, assessors, investigators, solicitors, employers, medical practitioners, rehabilitation providers, repairers, and other stakeholders.
- Lead and manage the Claims team,
including workload allocation, supervision, technical support, coaching, training, performance management, and development planning.
- Conduct formal performance reviews and monitor individual training plans and service standards.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new Claims team members.
- Conduct client and insurer claim review meetings and ensure agreed actions are progressed.
- Prepare claims reports, portfolio summaries, trend analysis, and performance updates for clients, brokers, and senior management.
- Identify claim trends, insurer performance issues, risk improvement opportunities, and potential impacts on renewals, premiums, excesses, deductibles, and policy structure.
- Collaborate with the broader broking team to support renewals, client strategy, retention, and consistent service delivery.
- Develop and maintain claims procedures, templates, manuals, workflows, and reporting standards.
- Ensure claims are managed in accordance with applicable legislation, AFSL obligations, privacy requirements, RG 271, the General Insurance Code of Practice, and internal procedures.
- Escalate service failures, compliance concerns, complaints, and unresolved insurer matters where required.
- Contribute to departmental planning, resource management, system improvements, and the ongoing development of Interlink’s claims service offering.
About You
- Minimum seven years’ experience managing commercial insurance claims, ideally across both General Insurance and Workers Compensation.
- Proven past experience in a supervisory, leadership, or management role.
- Proven experience managing complex, disputed, escalated, or high-value claims.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance policies, claims processes, insurer requirements, and settlement negotiation.
- Sound knowledge of Western Australian Workers Compensation legislation, injury management, and return-to-work requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team, manage workloads, provide technical guidance, and develop staff capability.
- Strong client advocacy, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail with solid organisational, reporting, and administrative capabilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain oversight of a large and varied claims portfolio.
- Certificate III or IV in General Insurance, Personal Injury Management, or a related qualification is desirable.
- Tier 1 or Tier 2 General Insurance Broking qualifications are highly regarded.
- Familiarity with claims and broking systems, including OfficeTech, Insight, or similar platforms, together with strong Microsoft Office skills.
