About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients for the position of Data Engineering Intern . This remote internship is designed for students and recent graduates who are passionate about data engineering, cloud technologies, database management, and building scalable data solutions.
This internship provides practical exposure to modern data engineering practices, including data pipeline development, ETL and ELT processes, database management, cloud-based data platforms, and data infrastructure. Interns will gain hands-on experience working with industry-standard tools and technologies in a collaborative remote environment.

Role Overview
As a Data Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and optimisation of data pipelines and infrastructure that support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives. You will work with databases, cloud technologies, and data processing frameworks while gaining practical experience with modern data engineering workflows and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting, processing, transforming, and integrating data from multiple sources.
- Support the development, testing, and maintenance of ETL and ELT pipelines.
- Help build and optimise data workflows for analytics, reporting, and business intelligence.
- Write SQL queries to extract, transform, validate, and analyse data.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability across data systems.
- Assist with database administration, data modelling, and data warehousing activities.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and engineering teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
- Support data migration, workflow automation, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation for data pipelines, workflows, and engineering processes.
- Stay updated with emerging data engineering technologies, cloud platforms, and industry best practices.
Eligibility Criteria
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in data engineering, cloud computing, databases, and large-scale data systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a remote team environment.
Required Skills
- Basic proficiency in Python programming.
- Understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Familiarity with database design and data modelling principles.
- Basic knowledge of ETL and ELT processes and data pipeline architecture.
- Understanding of data structures and fundamental programming concepts.
- Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn modern data engineering technologies and industry practices.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Python libraries such as Pandas, PySpark, or similar data processing frameworks.
- Knowledge of databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with Apache Spark, Hadoop, or distributed data processing technologies.
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of Apache Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with Git and version control systems.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data lake architectures.
- Exposure to data pipeline development and workflow automation.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.
