District (HNELHD) is seeking an exceptional Director of Medical Services (DMS) to provide expert leadership and strategic direction for medical services across Rural & Regional Health Services. This position is being offered on a permanent full-time basis, reflecting the breadth, complexity and significance of the portfolio and HNELHD's commitment to delivering medical leadership across our rural and regional communities.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Lead and oversee medical workforce planning and service delivery, driving innovation and excellence across rural and regional settings.

Executive Collaboration: Work closely with the R&RHS; General Manager and executive leadership to shape strategic priorities and future direction.

Clinical Governance & Culture: Champion the district’s vision of “Excellence, Every Patient, Every Time”, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Medical Leadership: Provide leadership, support, and professional oversight for Senior Medical Officers, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and engagement.

Service Development: Support sustainable, high-quality healthcare services tailored to the unique needs of rural communities.

About You You are an experienced and respected medical leader who:

- Registered as a medical practitioner in NSW and possession of relevant Fellowship and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award or Health Insurance Act of 1973.
- Strong, demonstrated leadership, analytical, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills along with a demonstrated ability to develop, direct and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to quality improvement principles and innovation in clinical practice and proven track record of innovation and improvement in the interests of patients.
- Proven track record of medical leadership in an environment of significant change and an ability to provide effective clinical leadership, negotiation and conflict resolution skills: ability to inspire others and build robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical practices and procedures and the ability to apply that knowledge to achieve high professional and clinical standards of care, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of health services.
- Understanding of, and strong commitment to the Values of HNE Health and knowledge of the Caring Together: Health Action Plan for NSW and other reform issues.
- Ability to use and interpret data to address complex situations and make decisions that strategically align to patient outcomes and HNE Health objectives.
