About the Accoras Team
Accoras has been delivering mental health and wellbeing services to South-East Queensland young people and families for over 30 years. Our Secondary to Intensive Family Support (SIFS) program is a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) specific service aimed at supporting children (up to 18) with potentially compromised safety and emotional wellbeing. The program aims to help the child by working with the parents and/or guardians in their home to restore a positive living environment and protect the child from potential harm.
The support is free and 100% outreach to Brisbane South catchment area.
About the Role
This is a parental leave back fill opportunity where the right candidate will have an opportunity to shine in a team of supportive colleagues doing great work!
The role is a specialist position providing Domestic and Family Violence expertise, assessment and support to compliment the holistic interventions provided to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families by Family Support Practitioners in the Secondary to Intensive Family Support program.
About you
We’re looking for a team member, who has a minimum two years’ experience working in the Domestic and Family Violence field, with Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Human Resources, Psychology or similar.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families and communities, with complex needs;
- Experience or knowledge of working in or with the Children Protection System and the legal system;
- Skills and experience in risk management and supporting crisis situations;
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills; including the demonstrated ability to network and develop relationships with community partners and stakeholders;
- Demonstrated skills in making appropriate decisions and problem solving, including in crisis situations and where risk to client safety is involved;
- A high level attention to detail, and demonstrated solid time management and organisational skills;
- A current driver’s licence, motor vehicle, and the ability to obtain a Working with Children check and successful police history check.
