Role Description The Family Carer Lived Experience Forensic Lead is a full time, on-site role based in Moorabbin, VIC. This role centers on using lived experience as a family carer of a person in forensic mental health or related services to inform, co-design, and enhance service delivery, policies, and programs.

The position involves leading family carer engagement initiatives, facilitating peer-support activities, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure family carer perspectives are embedded in care planning and service improvement. The role includes developing and delivering education sessions and resources for staff, consumers, and carers,



and contributing to governance activities, quality improvement projects, and strategic planning.

The Family Carer Lived Experience Forensic

Lead will also maintain documentation, report on outcomes, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen partnerships with carer and community organizations.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated lived experience as a family carer of a person who has accessed forensic mental health or related services, with the ability to draw on that experience in a purposeful and professional way.
- Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and relationship-building with families, carers, and community organizations.
- Experience in program coordination or leadership, including co-design, service improvement, and participation in governance or advisory groups.
- Well-developed communication skills, including group facilitation, training or education delivery, and the ability to present complex information clearly and sensitively.
- Knowledge of mental health and forensic service systems, relevant legislation, human rights principles, and recovery- and trauma-informed practice.
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries, self-care strategies, and reflective practice in a role that utilizes lived experience.
- Competence in basic digital skills, including email, document preparation, and record-keeping; experience with health or community-sector documentation systems is beneficial.
- Relevant qualification in mental health, social work, psychology, community services
