Summary
Heavy Vehicle Performance Engineering, Multi-Body Dynamics, Vehicle Simulation
About the Role
This role sits at the intersection of heavy vehicle engineering, multi-body dynamics and software development.
You will work on real-world transport problems using advanced vehicle simulation, performance assessment and field testing. This is not a narrow drafting or compliance role — you will be exposed to analysis, modelling, testing and technical communication from day one.
We are seeking an engineer who is curious, technically robust and motivated to contribute within a collaborative and high-performing team.
Responsibilities
- Completing performance assessments of vehicle designs using computer simulation
- Contribute to the development of 3D engineering software
- Perform route assessments and safety analyses
- Optimise vehicle configurations across road networks
- Participate in field testing (braking, structural, noise, stability and road space)
- Prepare technical documentation and engineering drawings
- Undertake structural analysis using simulation tools
- Support quality assurance processes, including software QA
- Prepare technical reports for clients and regulators
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a technical team
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Full Australian work rights
Highly Desirable
- 1–2 years’ relevant engineering experience
- Exposure to the heavy vehicle or transport industry
- Knowledge of Australian Design Rules and heavy vehicle standards
- Experience with MBD and/or FEA
- SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD experience
- MATLAB or LabVIEW exposure
- Programming skills (C#, JavaScript, HTML5)
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies
- Engineers Australia membership
