The Examining Surveyor provides surveying and cadastral expertise to support the integrity of the NSW land titles system through complex boundary definition decision-making, technical advice, investigations, reviews and quality improvement activities. The role supports examination capability, industry engagement, digital transformation initiatives and the consistent application of legislative, regulatory and Registrar General requirements across land titling processes.

Your Responsibilities

- Provide expert surveying and cadastral advice on boundary definition, plan preparation, land titling requirements and surveying legislation.
- Assess and resolve complex boundary definition matters, ensuring accurate registration outcomes and maintaining the integrity of the NSW land titles system.
- Conduct investigations and reviews of complex surveying and boundary matters, including customer complaints and review requests, and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Build strong relationships with surveyors,



industry stakeholders, government agencies and customers to support consistent land titling practices.
- Contribute to quality assurance, system improvements and business transformation initiatives through specialist technical expertise.
- Mentor and support examiners through technical guidance, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify emerging industry issues and contribute to improvements that enhance surveying practices and the quality of plans submitted for registration.

About You

To be successful in this role you will:

- Tertiary qualifications in Surveying or a related discipline, and current registration as a surveyor in NSW.
- Minimum 5 years post registration experience will be highly regarded.
- Extensive knowledge of surveying, cadastral boundary definition, land titling principles, and relevant legislation, regulations, policies and Registrar General requirements, with demonstrated experience providing clear technical advice on complex matters.
- Demonstrated experience using cadastral and land titling systems and providing subject matter expertise to support digital transformation, system enhancements, business process improvement and the adoption of new ways of working.
- Experience supporting organisational change initiatives including the adoption of new systems, processes and ways of working.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor,



coach and support the development of technical capability and decision-making consistency within specialist and operational teams.
- Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Advanced analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, exercise sound judgement and resolve complex boundary definition, examination and review matters.
- Demonstrated understanding of governance, due diligence and decision-making frameworks, including experience conducting reviews, investigations and providing evidence-based recommendations to support best practice administrative decision-making.
