About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (5 years) to take ownership of complex heavy vehicle performance and compliance projects.

This is a senior technical role within a specialist consultancy. You will lead simulation and analysis work, engage directly with clients and regulators, contribute to ADR and import approval processes, and mentor junior engineers.

You will be expected to exercise independent engineering judgement and deliver high-quality outcomes across modelling, testing and regulatory documentation.

Responsibilities

- Lead performance assessments of heavy vehicle designs using simulation tools

- Deliver route assessment and regulatory engineering projects

- Participate in and oversee field testing programs (braking, structural, noise, dynamic stability)

- Conduct structural analysis of vehicle chassis and components (FEA)





- Prepare and review technical reports for clients and regulators

- Contribute to ADR compliance and vehicle import approval processes

- Support and mentor graduate engineers

- Maintain and improve quality assurance processes

- Contribute to internal software and tool development where appropriate

Requirements

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

- Minimum 5 years' relevant engineering experience

- Demonstrated ability to deliver engineering projects independently

- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

- Excellent report writing and technical communication skills

- Experience engaging with clients or external stakeholders

- Full Australian work rights

Highly Desirable

- Experience within heavy vehicle or transport engineering

- Knowledge of Australian Design Rules and heavy vehicle standards

- Multi-body dynamics and/or FEA experience

- Field testing experience

- Chartered status or working toward Chartered

- Programming capability (C#, MATLAB, JavaScript or similar)

- VASS Signatory
