Available Appointments

Company Secretary The Company Secretary is responsible for the corporate governance function of the firm. The role maintains the minute book, member and officeholder registers, and the governance calendar, and ensures the firm meets its obligations under its constitution and the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and the Charities Act 2013 (Cth).

In practice, this means attending and minuting board and general meetings, preparing agendas and board papers, tracking resolutions, and maintaining the firm's registers and policy suite. The role reports to the Board and works closely with the President and Vice President and accordingly managing their diaries.

This is both a governance and administrative role. It suits a student with an interest in corporations law, company practice or public administration, and it offers exposure to the operation of a registered legal entity that is difficult to obtain before admission.

Trainee Paralegals

Trainee Paralegals support the firm's internal legal function. The role assists with legal research,

drafting and review of the agreements and policy instruments the firm relies on to operate.

Typical work includes researching discrete legal questions and reporting findings in writing, preparing first drafts of client engagement letters, non-disclosure agreements and volunteer agreements, reviewing incoming documents against the firm's standard positions, and assisting with policy drafting. All work is supervised and reviewed before it takes effect.

The role is open to law students at any year level. Prior legal work experience is not expected; a demonstrated capacity for careful reading and accurate written expression is.

Marketing Coordinator The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for how the firm presents itself. The role owns the firm's brand standards, its social and digital presence, and the campaigns that support recruitment and client acquisition.

Responsibilities include planning and executing campaign calendars, producing or commissioning creative assets, maintaining consistency of brand application across all published material, and reporting on engagement. The role works closely with the Partnerships Coordinator on materials directed at prospective clients and sponsors.

The position suits a student with design, communications or marketing capability who is comfortable owning output end to end rather than executing to someone else's brief.

Partnerships Coordinator The Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for the firm's external relationships and its pipeline of client work. The role identifies and approaches prospective clients and sponsors, and manages those relationships through to engagement.

Work includes prospect research, outreach and initial meetings, preparation of proposals and sponsorship materials, negotiation of engagement terms in conjunction with the President, and stewardship of existing partners. The role is measured on the quality and continuity of the relationships it establishes.

The position suits a student who is comfortable initiating contact with people they do not know and who can represent the firm credibly in a first meeting.

People and Culture Consultant The People and Culture Consultant is responsible for the firm's members: how they are recruited, inducted, supported and retained.

The role designs and runs recruitment rounds, delivers onboarding for incoming members, monitors workload and wellbeing across project teams, administers the firm's Code of Conduct and grievance processes at first instance, and advises the Board on culture and retention. It also maintains role descriptions and the Volunteer Handbook.

The position suits a student with an interest in human resources, organisational psychology or employment relations. It requires discretion, as the role handles confidential matters.

Appointments are for Semester 2, 2026, with the expectation of continuation subject to performance and availability.

Please Note: Positions are ordinarily open to currently enrolled University of Notre Dame Australia students. Students at other institutions may express interest and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
