About the Role
Reporting to the General Counsel, this is a commercially focused in-house counsel role supporting the Asia-Pacific regional business across a broad range of legal matters. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, drafting and negotiating contracts, managing compliance, supporting corporate governance, and contributing to strategic initiatives as they arise.
This role can be based in Sydney or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts across a range of business areas, with exposure to multi-jurisdictional Asia-Pacific matters
- Provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice to stakeholders across the region
- Support regulatory compliance, data privacy and corporate governance obligations across multiple Asian jurisdictions
- Assist with strategic projects and transactions, including regional expansion initiatives
- Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments across Asia-Pacific markets
About You
- Admitted in a major Asian jurisdiction (Singapore, Hong Kong, or equivalent) with a current practising certificate, OR admitted in Australia/UK with strong Asia-focused experience
- 3-6 years PQE from in-house and/or private practice, ideally with Asia-based exposure
- Strong commercial contracts experience across a generalist remit
- Fluency in Cantonese is essential, with English proficiency
- Comfortable operating autonomously while collaborating across a broader regional team
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills
- Experience in a listed company or multinational workplace, particularly with Asia operations is ideal
