HSEQ Compliance Manager - Aggregates About Heidelberg Materials Australia
Heidelberg Materials Australia is one of the country's leading suppliers of construction materials, employing thousands of people across hundreds of sites nationwide. Through our extensive network of quarries, concrete plants and transport operations, we play a vital role in building Australia's infrastructure, communities and future. In Queensland, our quarry operations include a network of hard rock and sand extraction sites operating across both Heidelberg Materials and Pioneer North Queensland. As regulatory requirements continue to evolve, we remain committed to maintaining industry-leading standards in safety, environmental performance and operational excellence.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and influential Compliance Manager to support our Quarry operations across Queensland. Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, this role will partner closely with Quarry Managers, Area Managers and our National HSEQ team to strengthen compliance capability, improve systems and drive consistent standards across the region. This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who combines strong regulatory knowledge with a practical, collaborative approach. Rather than just managing compliance from behind a desk, you’ll work alongside operational leaders to provide guidance, coaching and support that enables our sites to achieve sustainable compliance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert compliance guidance and support to Quarry Managers and operational leaders across Queensland.
- Coach and mentor site teams to strengthen compliance capability and promote best practice in safety and environmental management.
- Partner with operational and HSEQ teams to review, improve and standardise systems, processes and documentation.
- Lead the development and implementation of regional compliance improvement initiatives aligned with national objectives.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and support sites in maintaining ongoing compliance obligations.
- Develop practical tools, templates and resources that simplify compliance requirements and support operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with other regions to share learnings, improve consistency and drive continuous improvement across the business.
- Build robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support positive compliance outcomes.
About You
You are a respected compliance, safety or environmental professional who enjoys building capability within operational teams and delivering practical solutions to complex challenges.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Proven experience in compliance, safety, environmental or operational leadership within quarrying, mining, extractive industries or heavy industry. Strong understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements relevant to quarry operations in Queensland. Demonstrated ability to influence, coach and develop frontline leaders and operational teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong problem-solving, analytical and continuous improvement mindset. Ability to work effectively across multiple sites and diverse stakeholder groups. Qualifications in HSEQ, Mining, Quarrying, Environmental Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
