- Salary up to $106,068.04 per annum + 12% Superannuation, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience. Additional remuneration may be available for an exceptional candidate

Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a goal oriented and innovative professional to join us as our Natural Area Management Officer.



The Natural Area Management Officer is responsible for providing Council with specialist and technical expertise with regard to Council managed and surrounding natural assets, bushland conservation, ecosystem management and related public engagement. Additionally, this position will secure and supervise internal and external funded contracts and grant funded programs, which can further enhance Council's natural assets and assist in sustainable natural resource management.

The Natural Area Management Officer is responsible for the management and stewardship of Council's bushland reserves, ensuring their ecological health and long-term sustainability. The role involves coordinating conservation activities, managing environmental risks, and overseeing programs that protect and enhance native vegetation, biodiversity, and natural assets within these reserves.

To be successful in the role you will meet all the essential selection criteria and have acquired a Tertiary qualification and/or demonstrated significant experience in Environmental Science, Environmental or Ecological restoration, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.

Your specialist knowledge and experience in natural area management which may include native vegetation ecology, bushland conservation, pest and weed species control, bush regeneration, and land and waterway restoration, along with demonstrated working knowledge of the relevant legislative environmental planning framework will be vital to your success in this role.
