Join the largest and most progressive intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) provider in Australia and Recent Zealand.
At Neurophysiology Services Australia (NSA), we lead the way in clinical neuroscience, delivering IONM services across a wide range of advanced spinal, cranial and vascular procedures. We’re expanding our highly skilled team and are currently seeking experienced Neurophysiology Scientists or a trainee to join us in Queensland.
About the Role
Neurological injury is one of the most feared complications of surgery. As a Neurophysiology Scientist at NSA, you will play a pivotal role in minimising surgical risk through real-time intraoperative neurological monitoring. You will:
- Monitor complex procedures including instrumented and non-instrumented spine surgeries, spinal tumours, brainstem tumours, microvascular decompressions, and brain mapping in both awake and asleep patients.
- Provide real-time interpretation of clinical neurophysiological data to support surgical decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and operating room teams.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Biomedical Science, or Health Sciences (preferred majors: Physiology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Neurophysiology).
Experience:
- Hands-on IONM experience in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and evoked potentials in cranial and spinal procedures.
- Desirable: Proficiency in EMG, NCS, and EEG.
Personal Attributes:
- Independent, confident, and calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and lateral thinking.
- Team player with a positive attitude and a love of early mornings (and coffee!).
The successful applicants will:
1. Have a valid Driver’s License and own vehicle.
2. Be willing to work outside of business hours and participate in the on-call roster.
3. Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
4. Enjoy meeting new people and working in changing environments.
5. Be fully immunised in line with Australian standards.
