About the role

The Structural Steel Detailer is responsible for creating accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings, and erection plans for structural steel projects. You will translate architectural and engineering design documents into detailed manufacturing instructions. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and the fabrication workshop. Your work ensures that all steel components are manufactured accurately and installed safely on site.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Produce comprehensive 3D models for structural steel projects using industry-standard software.
- Generate detailed fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and erection plans.
- Create accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and material take-offs for procurement and fabrication.
- Generate CNC files and other required data for automated workshop machinery.
- Review architectural and structural engineering drawings for constructability and accuracy.
- Ensure all detailing work complies with relevant industry standards and building codes.




- Perform self-checking and peer-checking of drawings to eliminate errors prior to fabrication.
- Apply correct welding symbols, bolt specifications, and connection details to all drawings.
- Identify design discrepancies and raise Requests for Information (RFIs) promptly.
- Liaise with structural engineers, architects, and clients to resolve technical queries.
- Coordinate with the fabrication workshop to ensure drawings meet manufacturing capabilities.
- Update models and drawings to reflect site variations and as-built conditions.
- Manage multiple detailing tasks to meet strict project deadlines.

- Exceptional accuracy in interpreting complex engineering data and producing error-free drawings.
- Ability to anticipate constructability issues and propose practical solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder liaison.
- Capability to prioritize tasks and deliver outputs under tight project schedules.
- Willingness to collaborate with workshop staff, project managers, and external consultants.

Qualifications needed:

- Minimum Certificate level or equivalent relevant work experience
- Minimum one year of work experience on relevant position

Salary:

The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $75,000-$105,000 plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
