Partners in Place Project Officer - Spaces for Life and Play

Wangaratta, VIC | Temporary Part Time (24 hours per week until September 2028) | $40.02 per hour + super

We're looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded Partners in Place Project Officer to coordinate the delivery of Spaces for Life and Play, a five-year VicHealth-funded initiative focused on improving social connection, mental wellbeing and opportunities for physical activity for children and young people across the Rural City of Wangaratta.

Working closely with young people, community organisations, health services, schools, government agencies and Council teams, you will coordinate project activities, facilitate meaningful youth participation, build robust partnerships and help create inclusive and welcoming spaces where children and young people can connect, play and thrive.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to long‑term community change by embedding prevention, equity and place‑based approaches into Council planning, programs and practice. You'll play a key role in project coordination, community engagement, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, while supporting a shared vision of a connected, healthy and resilient community.

What you'll do

- Coordinate the delivery of the Spaces for Life and Play initiative.
- Build strong partnerships across community, health, education and government sectors.
- Facilitate meaningful engagement and participation opportunities with children and young people.
- Support inclusive and accessible approaches that reduce barriers to participation.
- Monitor project progress and contribute to reporting,



evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
- Build community and organisational capacity in prevention, health promotion and place‑based practice.

What you'll bring

- Experience coordinating projects, programs or community initiatives.
- Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience facilitating community engagement or participation activities.
- Excellent organisational, communication and report‑writing skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes.
- A commitment to equity, inclusion and improving outcomes for children and young people.
