About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of Fleet Services at one of Western Australia's largest and fastest growing local governments.
As the Fleet Strategy Specialist, you will play a key role in strengthening how the City plans, manages, renews, and optimises its fleet assets. Working within Fleet Services, you will provide specialist advice and analysis to support fleet asset planning, whole-of-life costing, replacement strategy, standard specifications, utilisation insights and evidence-based decision-making.
This role is central to embedding a more strategic, lifecycle-based approach to fleet management. You will help ensure the City has the right fleet, at the right time, for the right cost, supporting essential services such as roads, parks, waste, compliance, community facilities and day-to-day operations.
You will work closely with the Manager Fleet Services, Coordinator Fleet Operations, Coordinator Fleet Maintenance and other stakeholders to develop practical, data-informed recommendations that improve fleet performance, manage cost, support service reliability and prepare the City for future fleet challenges.
About you
You are an analytical and practical fleet, asset or business specialist who enjoys turning data into decisions. You understand that fleet is more than vehicles and plant, it is a critical service delivery asset that must be planned, costed, renewed and managed over its full lifecycle.
You will be comfortable working with operational teams, technical staff and leaders, and you will bring a balanced approach to analysis, customer service and continuous improvement. You do not need to have all the answers on day one, but you will need the curiosity, discipline and capability to build robust models, challenge assumptions and provide clear, evidence-based advice.
To be successful in this role you'll have:
- Experience in fleet management, asset management, business analysis, lifecycle planning, engineering, logistics, finance, procurement or related discipline.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret cost, utilisation, condition, performance and operational data.
- Experience developing reports, business cases, options analysis or evidence-based recommendations.
- Knowledge of whole-of-life costing, asset renewal planning, replacement modelling or total cost of ownership principles.
- Robust written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, briefings and recommendations.
- Good stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work with operational teams, technical staff and leaders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence using information systems, spreadsheets and data to support planning and decision-making.
- A practical continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve processes, standards and outcomes.
- A current C Class driver's licence.
