We're seeking an experienced Operations Manager to work closely alongside the Directors and take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the business.

This role will suit someone who enjoys leading from the front. Somebody who can think strategically while remaining connected to the daily realities of estimating, scheduling and running projects, supporting staff, assisting clients and continuously improving how the business operates.

While there is opportunity for future growth, the immediate focus is on consolidating systems, strengthening team performance, improving operational efficiency and ensuring consistent delivery across both our north and south of river teams.

The Opportunity

As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the business, including:

- Renovations
- Special Projects
- Residential and commercial maintenance works
- Being line manager to our two fulltime office based Coordinators and their field tech teams
- Team leadership and development
- Workflow management
- Client satisfaction
- Operational systems and reporting
- Financial performance
- Safety and compliance

You'll support, lead and mentor two experienced full time coordinators, field staff, subcontractors and the Directors to ensure projects and service work are delivered efficiently, profitably and to the high standards Westrade is known for. This is a genuine leadership position, however it is not a corporate management role. You'll be expected to remain involved in the operation, provide guidance and support to the team and step into issues when required. Having trade, construction supervisor, estimating and scheduling experience in addition to small business experience will be ideal for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership





- Take ownership of daily business operations across our north and south teams.
- Oversee and coordinate the effective flow of work from enquiry through to estimating, procurement, approvals, delivery and completion.
- Monitor workloads, scheduling, resourcing and project delivery outcomes.
- Drive consistency, accountability and operational efficiency across the business.
- Work closely with the Directors on business planning and operational priorities.
- Balance workload, staffing levels and resources to maintain profitability and service standards.

Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor and support a team comprising office coordinators, tradespeople and subcontractors.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and decision-making support to team members.
- Conduct regular performance discussions and promote professional development.
- Foster a positive, practical and accountable workplace culture.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning when required.

Renovations & Maintenance Delivery

- Oversee the successful delivery of renovation, refurbishment and maintenance works.
- Monitor project progress, budgets and client outcomes.
- Support complex quotations, scheduling and project planning activities.
- Assist the team in managing operational challenges and resolving issues efficiently.
- Ensure high-quality workmanship and customer service standards are maintained.
- Support the coordination with day to day tasks, scheduling, quoting and delivery

Systems & Continuous Improvement

- Refine and improve operational processes, workflows and reporting systems.
- Drive effective use of ServiceM8, Xero, Microsoft 365 and associated business systems.
- Develop practical procedures that improve efficiency while reducing complexity.
- Support ongoing improvements to quoting, scheduling, communication and job tracking processes.





A key measure of success in this role will be your ability to make the business easier to operate, easier to manage and more predictable in its performance. Financial & Business Performance

- Monitor operational budgets, job profitability and business performance.
- Review KPIs and operational metrics.
- Support delivery of sustainable revenue and profit objectives.
- Assist Directors with forecasting, planning and business decision making.
- Focus on building a stable, efficient and profitable operation rather than growth for growth's sake.

Safety & Compliance

- Maintain a strong safety culture throughout the business.
- Ensure compliance with company systems, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Promote quality assurance, documentation and reporting standards.
- Support ongoing improvement of WHS systems and practices.

You have a trade or construction management background so very experienced in construction methodology, estimating, procurement and managing delivery of construction projects. Most importantly, you understand what it takes to succeed in a growing small-to-medium business.

You're comfortable working between strategy and operations.

One moment you're reviewing performance metrics with the Directors, the next you're helping resolve a client issue, supporting a coordinator with scheduling priorities or working through a project challenge with the team.
